Fire Extinguisher worth it on bosses?
for enemies with high health pools, is it better to consume the Scorch debuff with the Fire Extinguisher bessing, or let it keep stacking up past 300?

Depends on how much scorch you can dish out
If I can keep stacking scorch up to 700+ easily then yes Fire Extinguisher is massive damage

If you have scorch cast + ranged cast, but build already revolving around Normals/Specials then it's not that good to pivot for more scorch later in a run

Scorch, even with Fire Extinguisher, is way too slow to be viable imo. Feels like a worse version of blitz/vent

I feel it depends on the weapon - Scorch, and by extension the Fire Extinguisher boon, is only really good if you can apply it quickly and consistently. To that end... the Daggers and the Umbral Flames are ideal weapons to do a scorch build on - the others are too slow (although the rod might be able to pull it off still)

Also if you level it up the % explosion can be over 100% so exploding for 125% is always worth it

Scorch is only good for the cast one, the attack and special suck. Poseidon's attack and special are better on-hit effects. Scorches attack is only 5 more damage then Poseidon but not Aoe and very delayed (even worse for fire extinguisher). Scorches special is even 5 less damage then Poseidon's special.

I would say it's amazing on the blades. You need to pile up the dot effects and even multiply it with freezer burn. Then you'll need fire extinguisher to burst damage so that you can instantly build another stack of dot immediately.

The other day I stumbled on a build with the Umbral Flames that built insane Scorch; I never made the connection that the usual attack chain before the omega attack shows up counts as channeling, which means that the Hestia boon where you scorch nearby enemies while channeling omega skills is constantly going off. I had the Mourning Fields boss ticked up to like 2.5k in scorch, but it took ages for it to tick down.

Really think it's important to take Fire Extinguisher to make fights much faster if you're investing heavily in Scorch. Though it's an overall damage loss, that "overall" means that the fight is like 2 or 3 minutes longer, which feels like an eternity.

Whoa good to know about the flame channeling bit. I wouldn't have thought that it would last through the whole bit.

as long as you're able to consistently keep Scorch on, there's literally no benefit to increasing max Scorch number. it's just going to deal 40 dmg/s. unless you're just running away for excessive stretches of time, practically any of your normal strikes will outDPS vanilla Scorch alone. Scorch does *not* scale with anything. total Scorch number, nor enemy HP

Do sources of Scorch overwrite each other in the same way Dionysus' hangover did? I know that was an issue if you had say... hangover on both dash and attack. If one was 10/tick and the other was 20/tick whichever one was active last would take priority instead of being additive which could lead to losses in dps.

Scorch is additive and it builds up
You have diminishing returns with high scorch from multiple sources if you don't get Fire Extinguisher to cash it in

If you have scorch on cast it's usually good enough to keep the full scorch damage running just with it alone
If you have both scorch on attack and the cast then you might want to take extinguisher to keep getting value out of increasing buildup

I had over 4,000 stacks of fire. No damage. Especially against Cronus or Cerberus. If the dog goes underground, the fire disappears. If Cronos creates a dome or teleports, all fire stacks disappear as well.

Since it deals a fixed damage per second, if you had extinguisher you could've been repeating that damage spike over and over again

Having consistent 4000 scorch deals as much damage as consistent 500 scorch
but 4000 would proc Fire Extinguisher that much faster over and over

Depends on your overall build, but for me it's good for finishing fights more quickly. Recently had a run against Eris where I was getting 5k stacks of scorch from the dash eating her bullets, but the fight itself dragged a bit while it was ticking down.
