If I can keep stacking scorch up to 700+ easily then yes Fire Extinguisher is massive damage
If you have scorch cast + ranged cast, but build already revolving around Normals/Specials then it's not that good to pivot for more scorch later in a run
Really think it's important to take Fire Extinguisher to make fights much faster if you're investing heavily in Scorch. Though it's an overall damage loss, that "overall" means that the fight is like 2 or 3 minutes longer, which feels like an eternity.
Whoa good to know about the flame channeling bit. I wouldn't have thought that it would last through the whole bit.
Scorch is additive and it builds up
You have diminishing returns with high scorch from multiple sources if you don't get Fire Extinguisher to cash it in
If you have scorch on cast it's usually good enough to keep the full scorch damage running just with it alone
If you have both scorch on attack and the cast then you might want to take extinguisher to keep getting value out of increasing buildup
Since it deals a fixed damage per second, if you had extinguisher you could've been repeating that damage spike over and over again
Having consistent 4000 scorch deals as much damage as consistent 500 scorch
but 4000 would proc Fire Extinguisher that much faster over and over
