Hades II

Hades II

The Pawn Shop is dead
After the latest patch there's no longer anything in the pawn shop I can sell to get extra bones. I understand moving some things to the recycling service, but it feels like literally EVERYTHING is there now. Is fish the only thing you can sell? That is disappointing given that only 1 tool remains to gain extra bones. And they are needed for actual gameplay and story progress, unlike recycling which is just decos.

That doesn't make any sense. Explain how the thousands of bones you need for Ambrosia is a skill issue. Choosing a weapon with the boon gives you only +2 bones per room and if you are talking about fishing, the Cat familiar makes it a non-issue, but it is still incredibly slow to gain bones with fishing the only option and it doesn't help you progress on any other vector like when you could gather seeds and sell what plants you didn't need.

Every plant I have gathered no longer sell for bones. Only the mushrooms. I have tons of every plant and minable resource in the game and they all moved to the Recycle page.

so what's the problem? recycle them cause that's sounds like u making things up :cuteDoge:

Fish and deathcaps, yes.

It's a problem, because bones are much more important for various metaprogression than is prestige. At least the recent minor patch made bones appear decently often again as door rewards; with the Olympus update, they became extremely rare.

Recycle only gives Prestige which buys decos, not bones.

Just ignore this Exaxis dude. He's not worth replying to.

Completing Prophecies in combination with always taking the weapon with the boon has resulted in me more or less feeling like I have a neverending stream of bones. I do always preference bones as a minor reward in rooms, and I always buy them from Charon if he sells them (or they're available in a well).

Mind you, I'm not trying to complete every Ambrosia interaction...but I am trying to max out every Arcana, which still requires a huge number of bones unless you're just repeating Erebus over and over again for Cinders and Shadows (which would bore me to tears and sounds like it would still be pretty slow). I'm 3 Duo boons away from the 3k for that prophecy, and still have a few more of the gods to pick up Legendary boons on. There are just a ton of bones there.

As someone who's already bought most of the necessary bone stuff and has been getting more than enough bones through thirst, room rewards, Charon wells, fishing and the few prophecies I have left, my first reaction to this post was "what are they even talking about, you're getting so many bones and you don't need that many".
I do wonder however, how it would feel in a new fresh file. Would I be getting enough bones for all that or would it be such a grind that it might be worth tuning down some of the bone prices?

The easiest solution would be letting people choose whether they want to sell stuff for Bones or Prestige.
I farmed the heck out of bones pre-update mostly to buy nightmare so I could max out new weapon stuff asap. So I get OP's complaint. And I agree with Neo NIGHTS above. Various resources should appear on both menus to trade for either bones or prestige. Let people choose what to prioritize on their own.

Star dust and nightmare, for instance. If you want to max out all five familiars (well, five once the last one's implemented), that's 50 witches' treats, which means 25 stardust. If you want to max out all weapon aspects... that's, what, seven nightmare for each non-Melinoë aspect, meaning 70 nightmare in total? OK, you can get some stardust from Chaos trials and some nightmare from fear, but you'll probably end up spending a fair bit of bones and obol points for the rest.

For those that haven't maxed out Arcana, a lot of bones will almost certainly go buying fate fabric and moon dust, too. Certainly does seem like it'd be rather grindy for anybody starting on a fresh file now. I already had them maxed and my familiars were already pretty heavily upgraded, so it's mostly weapon aspects that are my concerns (and, should I choose to eventually get all the decorations... well, some require as much as five star dust, which is pretty wild) but I'd probably feel rather irritated if I had a fresh-er save.

Consider how much Darkness you need to max the mirror in Hades though, from a new file. That also takes a huge amount of time and energy. You do get the option of sacrificing some rare items to get huge boosts, though, from the Broker's special deals when he offers something like 500 Darkness for 1 Ambrosia. There's currently no options (not even a random one) to make that kind of trade in Hades II, though. I think that a feature like that could be quite welcome.
