Black Coat is OVERPOWER

This is not necessarily a problem. It's (perhaps) the most fun weapon in the game. But let's be real: with a few upgrades from Daedalus' Hammer and some blessings from Hephaestus, Hestia, Zeus or Poseidon you become nearly unstoppable. Yes, that's cool, but it makes the game extremely easy, even if you're playing at Fear 20 level.

hmm interesting, it's not the first time I hear that and then when I finally got that weapon I was really curious and felt fairly let down by how normal the damage output is compared to all the other weapons.
Like the only thing that I can see makes this a bit above curve is using Poseidon on Special and Omega Special all the time and then get Zeus chain lightning on top and that's pretty much it.

The regular punch is nice, but nothing crazy. The regular rockets seem to miss half the time (maybe a controller issue, idk, do you play M+K or controller?). The Omega attack seems to take way too long to charge to then have not even that great a damage output (I'm not even sure I'm not losing dps over simply attacking there).

So all that being said, it's a LOT of FUN! THe sheer speed of it and the glidy-ness is great and makes it feel very unique.

However for best weapon I would easily take the dagger and sickle thingy (the 1st unlock after the staff) as that has so many ways to make it really strong imo, whereas mantle I could only find 1 so far

The real strength of the Black Coat's special is that you can fire it and, for the most part, keep right on moving, which allows you to avoid a lot of damage. Compare that to the Staff, which requires you to stand still, and the Skull, which has limited shots.

yeah im still sadge they took the block from the axe to give it to the coat when the coat would still prolly be overtuned even without the block. awesome weapon tho aspect of selene lasers go brrr

I'm probably better at using the daggers or axe than the mantle; but the built-in speed boost is great, having even a little tracking on the special makes it quite forgiving to spam; and it's definitely entertaining smashing into things (Nyx aspect) and then launching into a hex right after.

The speed boost really makes a difference when fighting Prometheus.

Yea please don't take the current Black Coat from me! I need this! I had so much fun with it!

It really makes you feel like an elite Reaper on steroid from SC2. I'll bite the bullet if SuperGiant decides to tune down the raw damage a bit, but please keep the rest the same! Especially the speed boost and how omega special works!

Shine is brutal, especially when you can power it up. I was wary at first because I'm partial to Phase Shift, but Shine really lives up to it's name in terms of effectiveness.

If the Surface gets a boss fight like Eris, then we get the Black Coat. That's how I see it. Feels like a hard-counter to her whole boss fight and a lot of the crazier parts of the Surface.

Maybe it's Supergiant tossing us a bone and saying equip the coat to progress Mel. I'm an axe main, but I've become a coat enjoyer. It's really good.

Have you tried Fear42? Cause doesn't matter what weapon you use, you really need to pray hard to RNGesus. I'm still struggling to beat it comfortably.
