LOL skill issue

Look, you're gonna beat the second boss and then it's going to be easy. Focus the drummer first, then the guitar player, then Scylla.

Yeah, Scylla feels really chill overall. Jetty is probably the hardest one, but breaking the band down is pretty easy, plus you get a banger of a track. OP is going to hella dislike the infernal beast and will absolutely HATE fighting Chronos.

This is probably the best designed boss right now, in my opinion. Very flavourful, decently hard but fair. And most importantly: Not just spawning more enemies as their 'special thing'.
(Looking at you Hell Beast & Chronos)

OP is going to hella dislike the certain someone who is 2nd boss on going up if they think Scylla projectiles are harsh. When you have nothing in a fresh save, Scylla would be a pain but that quickly changes once you've unlocked a few things and know the patterns of the projectiles.

I did dislike them to begin with, but its honestly not that hard to get your head around it. Cerberus is SO much worse.

7.5 hours and still stuck on the 2nd boss. Noob detected

To be honest, I like the second boss a LOT? But even as someone who's mostly learned the boss's patterns and can beat them comfortably... the arena just feels too small to be able to comfortably dodge all the nonsense being thrown at you without eating a few hits, even if you're playing very well.

after finally beating the second boss, i did go through everything else and only lost against the last boss (after taking more than half his life)

i've beat the 2nd boss, and the 1st one on the surface. However this roguelike is lacking in the rogue department - you cannot go through and win without going through loads of times previous to unlock things - it's not skill based at all, it;s grind based.

It's just not fun to grind arbitrary materials that require you to get past the 2nd boss again and again to access with the correct tool equipped - it's designed to waste your time as much as possible.

i got to the second boss on the first attempt (did not quite realize eris's blessing was as bad as it seemed) but i made some progress against them.
the drummer is stationary, and her attack pattern is very straight forward, you can easily dodge out of the splash, or avoid it entirely. being stationary, she's very vulnerable. and once she's down the other two become much easier. then you just do it again. avoid the others as you need to.
i'll break down at least phase 1. the drummer is stationary. she really only uses one of two attacks, and those two have 2 variants. she can create a shockwave from the top of the screen tot eh bottom or in reverse as the variant depending on where you are. the other attack is a massive aoe, which the safe zone is either away from her or close to her.

the guitarist only uses 3 attacks. a rapid fire concussion blast that dazes you and may knock you back, or she'll make a rev up then surge forward. that one is easily telecast. the third is she launches several globs that bounce forward then bounce off a wall and continues.

scylla is interesting. she has a frontal scream attack, avoid that. she has a frontal smash attack, she also has a kind of a beam that goes out in a cross around her, and slowly spins around, she's rather vulnerable then. she also may clamp down and become invulnerable a bit, then releases a bunch of shells. in a frontal aoe, slow moving and avoidable. finally she may also 'sing' which creates a variable amount of music notes which chase you down. they can break if they hit a wall.

they're only a problem when they're clumped together, so don't let that happen. this is very noticable when the drummer uses the aoe up close, and if they're together, that's gonna get rough.
after all three are down, they come back up and one becomes empowered with new abilities.
same fight though otherwise. learn the new abilities.
phase 3 isn't hard. just destroy scylla fast.

if you have any decent combo the fight is cake, if you DON'T then pay attention to what they're doing.

- the real fights come after. if you thought these ladieswere hard, much much worse is coming. the third boss obliterated me the first time i saw it. i took 70 damage to the face and then took it again cuz i didn't realize what the move was actually going to do.

good luck mate!

The second boss tests how viable your build is.

You will get hit, the odds of you dodging everything is low. So are you tanky enough? or can you output enough damage to end it fast?

I find that splash damage is strong here. There's 3 of them, sit on the drummer, and you hit all 3, essentially 3x your damage. If you have a DOT like Hestia or Zeus, it can proc on all 3.

False. Its just badly designed game mechanics.
I have beaten the game and this boss is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It drenches you in mindless projectiles without the means to avoid them at this part in the game in many runs due to the horrific pillowing of dodge. Even chronos can and other fights are fair game, you can generally avoid attacks, the start of this boss you cant the OP is right and his remarks are fair.

I guess you managed to brute force the boss without figuring out the pattern.

Which is a good thing. Other people were able to beat boss 2 in their first couple of runs. But thankfully, the game as designed provides options for people of varying skill levels to overcome by building up their arcana.
dustin1280 May 14, 2024 @ 4:26pm
just because people suck at this game does not make the 2nd boss badly designed.
Crappy players need to git gud
