Coming from someone who is incapable or unwilling to understand what cultural appropriation is, this is absolutely devastating. You've ruined my entire day with your mean words.
Feel free to cry.
In case you're not picking up on what I'm saying, African gods shouldn't be represented as anything other than black, either. The fact that you can't distinguish my intent or the rhetoric behind such a ludicrous suggestion says everything. There is room for artistic liberty, but when you start applying different standards for different regions and begin saying one is racist or cultural appropriation and the same example for another culture isn't, that's the issue.
In fact I can't even say it's an inherent issue with the game, the issue stems from the audience and how society views cultural bias. There's clearly a bias here. It's either ok for all or ok for none.
I do think though that this take on the greek gods are unique from historical ones, the scenerio too. so much so its really just super giant's story that is inspired from the greek mythos. Does that make it okay to depict figures of known ethnicity in different ethnicities? I dont really know, and as said earlier i also dont really care. It is interesting though that its okay to do what is seen in this game to some cultures but not others. Tickles the brain why a double standard like that can arise and pointing it out awards you many a jester awards
They are "white" but their skin is still not a porcelain white you must be imagining. Mediterranean people are darker skinned than those in central/northern Europe.
But you know that the gods in greek artwork (as in paintings and sketches) weren't uniformly white...right?
The white-washing of ethnicity is yes, something that could only happen with European characters. Couldn't do it with the five tiger generals, couldn't do it with Yuanshi Tianzun, couldn't do it with Quilla (as they've done with Selene), etc.
Ignorance is a requirement for being upset at Hades 2.
Give a definition of cultural appropriation. You can even be qualitative about it and give an example if you have trouble coming up with a definition that somehow doesn't create a double standard on why white African gods = bad, black Greek gods = good.
They are not BLACK, they are TANNED. Are you using that skin colour chart from Family Guy as a reference what is white and what is black?
Odysseus is tanned (to the point of having Arab skin-tone but with Caucasian facial features), Selene is arguably SE Asian or North African in skin tone but in no reality is any variation of ethnic Greek in her skin tone, and Hermes is straight up East Asian.
And I'm not addressing characters like Moros or Chronos who look otherworldly with their grey/ literal black skin. Calling them black is like saying dark elves are black-coded.
Are you actually blind? lmao
Hecate, Hestia and Apollo don't even have a skin colour which looks NATURAL. They are sporting shades of gray not seen on any known race. And that's hardly unheard of for supernatural beings. They are not bound to HUMAN racial traits, they are gods. They are shapeshifters, or have you not read Greek myths? In those Greek myths, there is not ONE detail about the gods' true appearance. You and your ilk are applying human standards to MYTHICAL creations: nigh omnipotent shapeshifters which are eluding any kind of accurate description.
Woke ideology, under the guise of good intentions which are not good intentions, aims to deconstruct the foundations of Western civilization, the white man, strength, values and everything that goes with it, to end up in a world of women and care bears whose only occupation will be consumption since it is disconnected from the natural Truth of things. And this game totally follows the agenda. If you read the texts a little, they deconstruct everything as well, at one point the heroine's master talks about the Golden Age saying that it's a scam and that it will never come back... If wise people, who read and write serious books, came here, they would vomit, I think, being one, but it's only a video game. The only problem will be in the heads of those who do not read and who will live in a completely distorted world, we will do what we want with them.
(sorry for the english)
