For every boss but Chronos, the time stop he's is amazing. Great for clearing rooms, and every other boss in the game even if your damage isn't the greatest.
Filling out boons for all your abilities helps a lot as the run goes on. Having an enemy stuck in an omega cast, that may be doing persistent damage or applying a status effect, after you've applied some status effect with a tap of your special, before you start spinning on them with an omega attack will skyrocket your damage over just spin-to-win.
Will take your tips into consideration! My main strats were usually to focus on raw damage which was my issue I suppose, combining things like Apollo's beam on cast dissapation to do AoE on groups of enemies while i herd others away to a more managable fight. I'll try stacking curses like I am a spirit who got wronged while alive.
Going all in on raw damage was your mistake imho. Most of the best damage in this games comes from synergies and/or interactions between boons. If you do that with the axe then sure; you get big deeps but you'll stay really slow too....
A Demeter Cast can lock up your enemies which gives you a perfect window to fully charge your whirlwind... add Zeus' Blits to that and you can get off 2 or 3 procs of that whilst your cast holds... add the lightning proc to that and you can splash stuff outside of the cast too to soften them up... with a Hestia special you can finish your whirlwind with the charged special to annihilate everything directly outside of your cast... maybe killing them with huge explosions.... which proc your lightning again to stagger them; which gives you enough time to charge back in and drop another omega cast...With the dual doon from Zeus/Hestia this means everything that DOESN'T die from blits will do from the scorch
You won't deal as much damage.... but then again... your enemies won't have the time to attack either.
Add some armor strip to that and stuff can get wild.
...just an example ofc...
EDIT: My first Eris kill was with the axe btw... so speed does NOT have to be an issue if you're methodical and strategic enough with your picks
