Hades II

Hades II

Enemy armor is way too oppressive
I haven't made it to Chronos yet despite making it to Tartarus twice yet one thing I've noticed is that armor goes from "Wow this sucks but it's managable" to "Am I allowed to damage this guy?". Why? It's way too oppressive especially at later levels where your boons and weapons just feel like wet noodles. I loved Hades but damn this one is something else. Been enjoying it but there are multiple things that are just frustrating and enemy armor is one of them. The other is the dash. I'd take Zagreus short double dash over this long but slow singular dash that leads to a "sprint". Game doesn't have the pizzazz that Hades had. I really hope Devs address this.

There are some olympian boons and daedelus boons that help with this a lot. You're not guaranteed to get this of course but it's something to look out for. Also make sure to use your whole arsenal to really get your damage out there. I started out frustrated with armour as well but have found more and more ways to deal with it as I get better at the game.

I think armor is fine. I just do the same thing as in Hades I, always try getting one armor shredder boon into your kit and you're fine. In Hades 2 there are boons that let you one shot 80% of any enemy armor so in some cases with mini-guardians you can literally kill them in like 5 seconds.

Yeah except they're random and sometimes useless with your build. So in later levels, without having the ultra-specific niche build that can use the 2 boons that actually help with armor, you're left hitting them 100+ times while they don't stagger.
Dealing with armor is extremely boon dependant. Don't get anti-armor hammers or boons? Get ready to add tens of minutes to your playthrough at best and a failed run at worst.

If you're having trouble with armour, even without some kind of armour shredding boon, it's because you're refusing to use your full kit... It's either that or you aren't building synergies properly.

No, seriously. Combat focus in this game isn't like the original. In the original you could facetank hordes of enemies by exploiting dash attacks to weave in and out of danger. Zag's agility also allowed you to isolate when necessary vs tankier foes.

In this game, you have to sprint out of range, ensare them with your cast and punish with Omega attacks until armour is broken for most weapons, with the axe being the situational exception. Dash isn't meant for relentlessly diving into combat like it can be used on the original, unless you have an isolated enemy, or using crowd control boons like freeze.

Even ignoring the armor complaint, you should actually try the sprint speed boons. Might open your eyes a bit.

Thing is that everyone loved Hades so by changing the armor and dashes you are doing away with things that people liked. When people lose that they become unattached to the newer game. I don't know if you know but that's a bad idea. You always keep that which is good and change what is bad. I know that some love the dash and sprint as they are but I'm finding that most don't. I'm not a fan of the dash+sprint. I've found one boon that made it semi fun but to get it is ridiculious. Chaos boon to get +40% move speed and sprint was a lot of fun but lose 1 boon choice for 5 boons. Sometimes you can go near half a run without a boon. I think it'd be reasonable that it would be 5 boons or 7 encounters whichever happens first. Oh well I'll still play but I'm an older player and can get overwhelmed easily. I felt the attacks and cast in Hades were much better than this one.

you just have to remember that armored enemies don't get stunlocked by attacks like unarmored enemies do.

so if you're fighting armored enemies and don't have a quick way to remove it, you have to keep moving constantly
There are some weapon aspects which can really trivialize armor without any armor dmg boons. Aspect of Pan being one.

Armor works the same way here. You can stioll dash in and out. So that's really got nothing to do with the git gud issue of dealing with enemy shield. The only thing players can't do here is button mash/spam dash to get out of things. Yes, more people will lose, but it's a bad idea to have games that reward mindless button mashing.

If people don't care about playing well, that's what's god mode is for.
