Umbral flame's aspect of Eos is actually good (also a guide on it)
I've seen several people say Umbral Flames weapons are bad, but I think its because this weapon has 2 aspects that incentives using special when its probably the worst ability out of all the weapon's attacks / specials. (A ranged attack weapon has a low range special that does not interrupt enemies movement or attacks and is too chaotic/hard to aim to be reliable damage.)

The advantages of Umbral Flame's Aspect of Eos attack over other weapons / range specials:
- The only range attack/special you can move and dash while still attacking. (you do move slower while attacking.)
- Goes through enemies. (Dagger and staff special do not.)
- A faster attack speed then Dagger's special, longest reach of non-omega moves.
- Can trigger Apollo's chance to apply daze or double attack.
- (Aspect of EoS Exclusive): Only range attack besides Omega Axe Special that goes through walls. (does mean it can't break vases or spider-covered things.)

Disadvantage:
- Staff special has faster attack speed and its Aspect of Momus causes it to deal more damage.
- Most special slot effects are much stronger then attack slot ones. (only Scorch attack is stronger.)

Some Nuances of Umbral Flame:
- Useing cast while holding attack does not decrease your omega attack progress and for an extremely brief moment you move at your normal speed. (the throwing cast upgrades and omega Cast do extend your cast animation enough that it does reset your Omega attack Progress.)
- Your attack dash does count as "sprinting" for effects (Including Aspect of Eos and the Cat's attack)
- When attacking you don't regenerate mana, even before Omega Attack.
- If you run out of mana, thus not doing omega attacks even at full charge, you still will not do Omega Attacks when generating mana while attacking (you would have to stop attacking then charge back up to Omega).
- (Aspect of Eos): The returning attack interprets enemies like normal attacks.
- Arcana: Slow down while channeling Omega moves have no impact on Omega Attack, Sprint speed has no impact on attack dashes.

Playstyle:
With all of the above factored in, while you attack, move away from enemies while using your massive range to still hit them, use cast when enemies get too close then immediately dodge backwards to make distance, use your ability to attack and dodge to kite any range attacks that might hit you while still dealing damage. I think the best build with this playstyle is to almost always hold attack while not worrying about the Omega Attack/ mana usage and go for a full on-hit based build. Your attack is very fast making it work well with on-hit effects and by ignoring mana based effects you can choose the Arcana that gives raw damage increases, increased rarity chance, tank stats, more money, and change of fates (which in the late game should give you more damage then an Omega Attack build, while not having to waste time, Arcana, or boons to regenerate mana.)

On-attack builds:
- Zeus / Rainbow Element Focus: The two chain lighting effects are very powerful and Blitz is good at enabling the Arcana for increased damage when 2 curses. Getting Zeus for Rainbows for minimum 30 damage is very important as it increase non-omega attack damage and both chain lightening effects. (if you get the minimum damage boost early enough, grabbing Demeter's keepsake for either cast based DoT damage is worthwhile) Aphrodite's passion dash is very good and the 4 rainbows for 15% dodge chance is also great. (note: This is the only build I have actually tried so the other builds will just be guesses on their effectiveness and goal.)

- Poseidon Build: Splash is good AoE and has higher base damage then the chain lightening. Has access to better meta progression and money economy. Flood control is good tankiness. Spawns mana bubbles if you want it. Since the only water element boon is have 4 for +100 health, you can go with whatever attack based boons you want instead of trying for a water based build.

- Scorch / Fire element Build: Scorch is an effective stacking debuff as long as you can get Fire extinguisher to actually deal the Scorth damage (scorch's damage seemingly does not trigger while you are applying more scorch and the damage apply pretty slowly.) +2 power per fire is really good. Apollo's double attack chance and daze chance boons are great. Apollo's 4 fires for self healing is good. Hephaetus's 400 damage for special proc is the only special boon worth considering.

- Best Artemis option is seeking Arrow, especially when Zeus build has the minimum damage boon.

Personally I've had more sucess with special based builds on Aspect of Melinoe but that's just me

I did my first Chronos clear with chain lightning/Poseidon splash/chaos boon +49% attack damage. It's a room-clearing build. I also took the attack speed buffs from having a ready hex, and then just never used the hex. Just hold down attack and float around. If you have a good cast, it can be helpful for bosses, but otherwise, just walk into a room and attack and everything melts. I was honestly super surprised.

Agree with all of that. People are totally sleeping on this.

One of the most amazing builds i had was with aspect of Eos and Hephaestus on attack.

Heroic Hephaestus's attack boon +4 (it couldn't accept more poms) with 2 seconds cooldown.
Hestia's cast with Supernova and cast aiming from Zeus.
Heph+Hestia and Heph+Apollo duo boons.

With Eos i was constantly hitting something and triggering Heph+Hestia's incredible duo with ease.
The duo creates second hit with a little delay resulting in an extra slo-mo. It was a slo-mo galore (even certain boss i won't name is affected by this slo-mo).

I highly recommend trying this build.

I heard Ygnium was bad. I softly agree - but the first run with it was like "Wait, really?"
I happened to almost immediately luck into the thing with the 1500% power attacks that cost more Hex.
I had MP regeneration.
So it was a case of just wait out an attack phase while I regen, then slam the enemy for ridiculous 450+ damage hits for a while after some charge-up, then do it again.
