Hades II

Hades II

Tips for facing chronos?
This thread should probably be pinned because this boss is actually hard compared to hades.

Personally i've faced him about 8 times now and never even beaten his first phase. Closest i ever got was down to 10%.

I've even gone in with like 6 epics, 2 heroics and a legendary boon with 35% dodge, 3 revives on an omega attack build with super fast witchfire and this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ still kills me.

Im actually kinda getting depressed, i know the style of play having put some 70hrs into the first game and beating hades in his ultimate form some 30ish times, but this isn't a souls like, where's my estus if it is. Speaking of healing hex barely helps, hex sucks, even with a decent magick sustain and spamming omegas just to proc off a lv12 hex does nothing for the fight.

I'm thinking about finding a cheat engine just to finally have a win, i mean with the way rng keeps sucking on boon rolls and location choices, even prior stating i had one really lucky run, i still got pwnd.

Not just that, he hits like a truck and the combo move speed, distance and cooldown of dashing mostly gets you hit by his followups or arcing range of said attacks.

The first phase is all about timing and spacing, funnily enough. Everything he throws at you can be dashed through, if you're watching closely enough. The only time you should be wildly spamming and putting out as much damage as you possibly can is when there are adds around that can disrupt you watching and responding to Chronos's cues.

Go for damage when it's safe to, which is usually right after he dashes/swings at you with his scythe. He'll do it one time when he's above 50% HP, and then a combo of three successive dashes/swings when he's below. All of these can be dashed through. The little echo they do afterward that's like a rip in the fabric of space, is deceptively larger than it appears, so mind your spacing.

If you have the ability to put your cast somewhere else, like with Zeus, Hestia, or Hades' boons, slap him with it as often as you can. Take advantage of whatever ranged attacks that you have when he's melee-unsafe to shorten the fight.

Can't tell you much about the second phase, though. Only time I managed to reach it, something bugged out and I was permanently slowed and couldn't do any of the mechanics.

I'm going to preface this with saying I do use Godmode. My reflexes aren't what they used to be and Mel doesn't move as fluidly as Zag did.
I find putting Hephaestus on my magic regen helps a lot and then using the omega special on Zorephet with him, Demeter or Aphro if you can get an epic or better on her. Add in Dad's sudden burst of damage or the boon that makes only half as many mooks spawn so you aren't getting bombarded quite as hard. Luckier Tooth as your keepsake for insurance and if you have upgraded Eternity then Echo's revive boon is invaluable. If you can get the healing hex from Selene and boost it so that you stock uses even when they aren't expended then you're golden.

I thought I was trash but the bosses definitely are harder than Hades 1
I have to keep reminding myself about the sprint on top of dash. Makes a huge difference in all boss/guardian battles.

Both my battles with him so far I got into last phase, about 10% hp, then got greedy and overly aggressive. Had scorch on my staff for first one, coupled with double strike I would mostly get out a combo or omega then back off. Second fight it was skulls, of which I got lucky at start with explode on retrieving ammo. That and 5 shots meant I would simply volley fire then omega special through the pile.

Only got the second phase once, died instantly since I didn't know what the big circle was =p

(Still not 100% sure if I should have stood in it or not =)

When he puts down the dark geared circles you want to avoid them and stand in the lighter areas. When he highlights a part of the giant clock stay in the highlighted spot or you will get oneshot from the explosion. You might be able to dodge at the last instant but I haven't had any success from attempting it after several attempts. When he drops the sand circles stay out of them or you will likely get shredded by his followups. If he summons the hourglasses then focus them down first or you will get overwhelmed by their orbital projectiles.

haven't lost a run to him once eris stopped cursing me on stage 3. in general you want to approach hades 2 a bit more slow and safe than the first, the dash isn't as good and you can get stuck in animations you can't dash out of more often so you might be taking risks that would of been fine in the first but not here and getting hit. additionally ranged combat is more of a focus in this game with every weapon having at least one projectile you can take advantage of so if you are still struggle with move sets i recommend focusing on a ranged playstyle instead of close up dagger/axe. for chronos i suggest being right next to him in melee range or very far away from him as this makes it simple to dodge any attack he throws at you, if you're close just dash through him, if you're far just dash away and whatever he throws at you should be missing, if you are playing mid range you risk accidentally dashing into attacks or followups more often so try not to stick around right around the range he throws his scythe and try to stand at near the end of that attacks range. for an easy weapon/build i suggest focusing on the staffs special attack, its range is long enough to hit enemies outside of your field of view and its very quick without too much animation locking so its pretty safe to throw out some damage then go back on defense, start with posedions keepsake and get splash on special as its a big boost to its damage output then aim for the hammer upgrade that doubles special shots from there i like zeus/hestia giving cast ranged so i can use it from a distance better but whatever else you go for isn't a big deal as long as you get the first two for damage.

Chronos' first phase is actually really weak close in, just beware his left shoulder (since it's the only place his scythe throw and big slash hit close in).

Just run and don't get inpatient. Chronos has an extreme amount of health right now and even with a GOOD boon selection, he just takes way too long to whittle down.

Makes no sense that cerberus can just melt the location prior yet a Chronos fight can last a good 10+ minutes.

Upgrade the Ring of the Evil eye, 30% extra damage against him if you lost to him last run. and you can just put it on for the last zone. His first Phase has SO MUCH health compared to the bosses before him.

I found an amazing, albeit conditional cheese that always lets me beat him.

This is completely conditional on getting Hades to appear in World 4 AND having him offer the 200 damage option for your cast.

It turns your cast into a homing skull that does 200 damage and then activates your cast where it lands.

I got this along with Demeter, and just basically stood at the other end of the stage spamming it at him for both forms.

Every time I got it, I took him down. It took me a bit, but it worked.

There are other builds that can work, but I strongly recommend you do something that doesn't require you to get in close. Unless you really learn his combos.

He is a very, very tough boss. No two ways about it.

Have you been using your moon boon?
In Hades 1 you had an attack a special a cast and a god ability(the overpowered ultimate ability to complete your build)

In Hades 2 you have an attack a special a cast and a moon boons. The moon boons are your ultimate ability. You need to get a moon boon once to choose it... then again to upgrade it properly. If you've done this... then you should be able to beat Cronos.

https://gamerant.com/hades-2-moonglow-path-of-stars-guide/#:~:text=Hades%202%3A%20All%20Gifts%20of%20the%20Moon%20Boons,-Selene's%20Powers&text=What%20makes%20the%20Gifts%20of,tap%20of%20the%20right%20trigger.

In the build

--Moon boon "darkside" +6

(which means you need to get "moon" 3 times before Cronos, which usually occurs before you fight cerberus, i.e. use the moon ring).
You need to be aiming for "your attack has the same effect" (i.e the purple ability upgrade). and prioritize +1 seconds to Hex and second "+x damage"

--hestia for attack (basic 20 damage scorch not even rare, ie use the hestia ring).

I was using starter weapon staff with daedelus buff for when you hit with an attack you hit twice(this is not actually necessary but cool to have, staff stacks HUGE! burn damage)

--use some form of mana regen...

my mana regen was from standing in my cast(apollo boon) (which meant I could go back up to full mana IMMMEDIATELY after going into "darkside" mode.
(this is not necessary, literally any mana recovery would do, personally I like Hestia/Hera/Chaos for mana recovery)

Gameplay would be... I would immediately start spamming my omega attack with my weapon. If you have a zeus run boon it works great to hit him while draining ALL of your mana while running (which is what you want so you can spam your moon ability)
USE YOUR ULTIMATE CAST FOR CROWD CONTROL AND TO WASTE MANA.

All of this is so you get the 90 mana required to make darkside work. (all in all it should take about 3 seconds to kill the adds and use up your mana doing it) Then you trigger darkside and get ready for the fun. (The first card is useful for this as it slows down time while charging your omega attack)

I stacked 2,000 points of fire damage on Cerberus in about 6 seconds because darkside makes your attack faster and continuous and it absorbs your hestia buff damage and your daedelus double damage buff. This was a combination of the epic hestia cast(60 damage of fire per second and the flames from the dadelus rod).
I'll do it again and get a screenshot hilarious to watch them melt while they can't actually hit you at all.

Cronus takes so much fire damage and while you're in darkside mode... you're invulnerable... you don't need to dodge. you can sit in your cast and he will attack you... but fail to hit you.
When you're out of it... spam your ultimate again to return... rinse and repeat. VERY EASY WIN.

I killed him with 135 health and 4 unused death's defiance. (3 from card 1 from cat friend).

I did the same thing with "pans knives" and burn on special. The dadelus boon I got was the +16 and spam all around. And the moon ability was "lunar Ray".

He never knew what hit him. He's not really that bad once you've mapped his attacks. but once you start spamming the moon boons well... he's screwed.

I'll also do it with this card up too.

Thanks both of you.
