the cat

ive been trying to get the cat as a pet and ive looked up guides and it says keep visiting headmistress in the first area till she speaks about a familiar incant but ive beaten her like 20 times and she hasn't given me one yet. any idea?

Not entirely sure what the unlock conditions are.. I got it randomly after a dozen or so runs where I beat her.

Possibly locked behind other incantations being complete?

I wanted the cat, but it stopped showing up by the time actually could get pets. I hope there is more options for other familiars in future instead of just the Frog and Cat.

I petted the cat 2-3 times in the underworld, then got the recipe to make treats. I then came acoss the cat on the surface and was able to tame her, she is now my pet (gives you a death save, catches a fish and ermm if you sprint over her, she will go and attack an enemy for 90 damage, but most of the time she is sleeping in the corner of a stage(even worse on the Fields stage), as cats do and mostly worthless in that regard for the most part. Also I will say its the weakest of the death saves as it only give you back 10 hp.

I would imagine the Anubis dog is possible as well. I just got to the point where I could brew additional treats and did so (like one run ago) so I'm hoping they show back up soon.

As much as I love my frog friend I didn't know the others would disappear immediately after.

i did this but i havent been given the treat recipe and the cat isnt appearing anymore

The cat isnt very good, it runs somewhere on the map and goes to sleep and then if you dash through it, it will do 99 damage to one guy then run off and go to sleep again. You do get a small death defiance that gives you like 15hp and it will fish for you once.

Frog is better!

I have the frog, I've met the cat a lot of times in the underworld until she moved upstairs, "spoke" to it quite a few times there as well. Brought my food with me....but still can't give it to the cat =/

Edit: nevermind, I'm stupid, I forgot the petfood takes time to make so I started the crafting, was supposed to do a Chaos mission to spend some time but forgot and met the cat while the food was still being "cooked" =p

Cat is at the harbour....at least it's been there since I got there the first time and it's always sitting there waiting

I found the cat about 5 times before I was able to "treat" it. I ended up finding it on the docks I believe (just after the cyclops and before the ships). So it's possible to get it outside of Erebus. And perhaps that's actually what's required.

Thats where the cat doesn't appear for me. I killed all the bosses multiple times, got the treat, even maxed out the frog. upgrades almost everything, talked to every npc and the cat is not there

Same thing here I beat both paths multiple times. But the cat doesnt appear anymore after unlocking the treats.. Not at the dock nor anywhere else.

Same. Met the cat twice at in the forest by the fountain, unlocked the frog familiar, and am not finding the cat at either the forest (fountain or otherwise) or the harbor.

Cat is absolutely perfect for the playstyle and Arcana/Tarot/Keepsake setup I like to use.

Once you feed the critter enough snacks, it can give you a +30HP Death Defiance, and can fish 4 times for free (which is usually all/most of the fish you see per run anyways).

I often run Artemis' "White Antlers" keepsake which limits me to base 30 max HP for the entire run, and have all my Arcana tied to things other than the extra Death Defiance stacks. The cat at least gives me one free "oopsie" cover with effectively a Full HP heal attached to the recovery. Plus it meows and is cute af!
