Hades II

Daedalus Hammers don't feel as significant as before.
Back in Hades I they really were upgrades of the weapon we were using.
But in Hades II they don't feel like upgrades, but rather like modifications to our current weapon that slightly change the playstyle but not very heavily.

I somewhat agree and mostly disagree
there are nice upgrades that will change your playstyle, some will just buff it
play more to get more options.

but what I came here to ask is:
what's the benefit of choosing
"hold attack to continue attacking, can't channel omega attack anymore"

it's just repeating the attack combo, it's not any faster at all, you lose the omega attack and the benefit is that you don't need to click the button yourself anymore?
or am I missing something?

seems like a downgrade.

Strong disagree. One of the hammer upgrades is literally "Double Attack," which is bloody amazing. Got another for the axe where I could keep attacking after using omega Attack. Stupid good. Some are better than others, of course, but the hammer gives some fantastic options.

I got that for the staff... and it was WAY faster. I'm not sure what weapon you had it on... but it was an awesome upgrade when I got it.

I got it for the daggers and it didn't seem that faster to me. but I guess it was?
my problem was it got me animation stuck often and with the daggers low range, that kinda messed me up.
I guess it was faster since I got animation locked in the final attack when I thought I shouldn't of have been there yet.

I think that's a necessary evil kind of situation. In H1, Hammer upgrades often revolved in your entire run revolving around mashing one button. H2's upgrades are less transformative, but at least your first hammer isn't going to make half your moves obsolete. Might also be why hammers show up more often now.

Hmm that's a good point...

Also kind of agree though I have found a few baller combos for how far I've gotten: The double Special on the starter weapon with Posiedon's boon did a lot of heavy lifting one run. Zeus' chain lightning on the torch with bounce and split evoked a similar playstyle from 1 with Zeus+gun. Though I would say the dps needs to be reevaluated because it didn't seem all that powerful at the time. Blitz as a whole is super underwhelming and I hope it gets reworked. One other pretty decent combo is axe with heavy chop and Heph's boon. Super slow, but will proc sometimes 600-800 dmg depending on load out.

Well now we have the hammer AND the blacksmith.

But yeah, the hammer has some broken upgrades for certain weapons =)

You haven't used enough different weapons, or really wrapped your head around what a proper build can do with some of the hammers.

Yes, there are a couple stinkers just like in the original, but the majority are extremely powerful and game breaking.

When you unlock the Argent Skull, take a look at the Twisted Crash hammer... LOL, it's absolutely insane, as is Psychic Spin for the Axe. I can keep naming more, but the list would be very long.

That's because you left out the additional 30% attack speed from the description, whether intentionally or not. So yes, it is faster, and noticeably so. It may not be fast enough for your liking, but it is faster.

I got Twisting Crash + the hammer that makes your Omega special to one side only but increased damage by 120%. With some magika reduction and Hestia magika recovery I was able to spam this in a square non stop for about 720 damage per hit from a very safe distance. Felt the same power level as Cluster Rockets.

most of the hammer upgrades feel like sidegrades, or have some insane drawback
Super Buu May 13, 2024 @ 7:28pm
Mostly agree. A lot of options aren't very worthful and that's probably because they tie into the omega system which is kinda tenuous. There's still some really nice upgrades though, especially on the skull. That thing is overlooked.

It would actually be more interesting to hear the ones you aren't a fan of actually.
