Hades II

Hades II

Hades 1 vs 2 Difficulty Differences
Hades 1:
•More enemies
•Game is faster in every regard
•Stage hazards are more abundant and more dangerous (in size and damage)
•More rooms to clear
•Bosses are more unpredictable, can't as easily be CC'd, have more difficult attacks to evade
•Optional boss rooms/ double boon rooms/ elite rooms (harder than guardian rooms)

Hades 2:
•No weapon aspects (yet)
•Much weaker mobility (dash recovery and lack of attack canceling)
•Tarot system is just weaker than the Mirror of Night
•Less health
•Smaller stages/ rooms
•Weapons are much weaker (easy fix via balancing)
•No rerolls on anything without tarot investment
•Bosses have much more telegraphed attacks and are all evaded in more or less the same ways
•Running sucks because of drifting

Overall these are the immediate things that come to mind without considering pacts of punishment (we'll get some equivalent with full release) or other features we're bound to get with the full release like the exhaustive list of boons from more gods and such.

These also aren't criticisms to either game, just an observation of design differences even though SOME of these differences are worse in the second game compared to the first. I will also say that even though the list of things that make Hades 2 difficult is a longer list that Hades 1 is the more difficult game, even at base difficulty. Larger test of endurance, larger room for error because of the speed of the game and endurance of human reaction times and decision making, bosses are also just generally more difficult and rooms are generally more crowded as well even though we're playing in bigger stages (which are also filled with more hazards).

I am not going to list the things that make each game easier than the other since it would just be an inverse list of the one I've made, but which game do you guys think is more difficult so far? I definitely didn't complete a run in the first game nearly as fast as I have in this one but I also have more experience. Maybe only way to compare is start a fresh file on Hades and see if I can clear it within 5 attempts (the number of attempts it took me to clear Hades 2).

Ehrm... Hades 2 has aspects ?
I'm using thanatos' aspect on the axe as we speak

Tarot can be upgraded to become more powerfull for the same amount of capacity AND you get free tarots that can be upgraded in turn. In all your powerlevel will be just the same as in Hades 1

Oh there are weapon aspects. I didn't unlock them at the cauldron yet LMAO

But yeah the tarot can be upgraded, it just doesn't seem like you can have all active at once but I have a lot less time than other people who have 40+ hours already. Does there appear to be a limit less than all active?

Well considdering my next Grasp upgrade will cost me 300 psyche and I'm not a no-lifer I have no idea if you can have them ALL active.... still; at some 24 points I have a good selection of them to the point I feel just a little less powerfull than Zagreus right now... Add to that you can upgrade aspects too now and if I get the hunger on my axe or staff I actually feel MORE powerfull than Zag

Well you can't have all active (unless awakening them and upgrading them changes something later) cause a few are counters to each other, like "have 2 of the same cost active" and "don't have more than 1 of the same cost active"

And yeah, weapons have 2 (or more, I forgot) Aspects with 5 levels each so there's quite a few upgrades to do =)

Pretty sure he didn't say you couldn't, I assume he said "you can upgrade aspects too now" to the OP saying that there's no aspects and the weapons are weaker

Reading this forum I get the sneaking suspicion people are comparing the "fresh out of the gate" Melinoe with Zagreus after 50 hours of play..
Ayk- May 9, 2024 @ 5:26am
Power levels feel the same -assuming you guys use your mana and not mashing L1 unga bunga style- once you reach the same power progression just like in hades 1.( upgraded arcanas and weapon aspects)
The final boss however is much more difficult and to be expected, it would be dissappointing if the father was weaker than the son.

I am almost 10h in and haven't seen a single legendary boon. Are there any in game yet? Also I hope they add more boons and/or more gods in future. I feel like there is very little variety in terms of boons.

Legendary boons very much so exist but are very, VERY rare (atm) in my experience, as in my currently 30+ runs, the ammount of legendary boons I have seen can probably be counted on one hand

This, ladies and gentlmen, is an example of cognitive bias.
Hey! Let's compare two things. I'll make a list of positives for the title I like and a list of negatives for the title I don't like.
Bravo, kind sir, you've demonstrated you don't like a thing.

Never said I didn't like Hades 2 gameplay. It's literally just a list of design choices. Your comment is an example of projection
It's Early Access.

There is definitely a lot of this going around.
