Hades II
Any tips for Chronos
This old man is beating me into the ground lol

Any tips (gameplay or build wise) would be appreciated for just the first clear. So far struggling to even get past first phase with 2 instances of death defiance (it's a skill issue).

Also I needed to answer a text message so I paused and he proceeded to UNPAUSE MY GAME and it freaked me out for a second :sts_snecko:

After two failed attempts, so far the best strategy looks to me like not getting hit.

I hope that helps.

The easiest tips I have are the safest places to be when hes attacking are directly behind him (dash through him) or a mile away from him.

If you constantly stay on his butt while hes doing attacks and combos you really won't get hit at all.

Phase 2 is a little more glitchy but just make sure you avoid the 1 hit kills.
Learn to read his body language for the 3 different attacks he can do when he raises his scythe (dash, frontal cleave, projectile) Make sure you always priorities killing the minions he spawns, especially in phase 2 as they can easily kill you if they pile up. Once he loses some health he will begin Comboing his physical attacks ( 2 frontal cleaves into a dash or vice versa) In phase 2 he can follow up a dash with 2 more in a row so you really need to be on the ball with those dodges.
- I always take the buff from Hades that lowers his adds by 50% if it's available
- I switch to the Evil Eye keepsake before starting Tartarus, it's set to Chronos since he's t he last thing that killed me (I'm on completion streak 6 currently) for extra 30% damage against him with the keepsake fully upgraded
- When he raises his scythe and grunts, he's going to do the arc throw, so move in close/behind him
- When he raises his scythe you hear the electric sounding charge noise, he's going to do one of his wide sweeps or charges that leave a scar and then do delayed extra damage, so dodge accordingly

That's kind of it for phase 1. Kill the adds as they come and don't get hit.

Phase 2:
- Move into the 'calm' spots in phase two when he charges his insta-kill moves (it'll either be a little circle on one of the numerals on the floor clock, or a clear spot around him in a circle
- He doesn't do the wide throw in Phase 2, so just dodge his 'scar' swipes and lunges like in phase 1
- Kills adds quickly when they start to appear around the edge of the platform
- Dash over/avoid the hands of the clock when they appear

That's about it. Selene moon buffs with healing or the one that turns you invincible can help if you get those and power them up a bit during your run. Other than that, it's just upgrading your cards/weapons, learning what boons are good and what work for you and what don't. Practice makes perfect.

Pause the game right when the boss fight starts and read a guide on him.

Generic advice? Herd the mobs away from him, try to rush them down. When he starts standing still and sending out his sequence of attacks, get a VERY short string of hits in (or one hit with axe) and back off. You are not looking for big damage, you are looking for consistent damage.

Build tip? Use a demeter build with the twin blades, Zeus on your special (the boon that procs damage when you do 120 damage) and look for the Aphrodite boons heartlob or whatever it's called (when you do your omega attack it shoots a heart doing massive AoE), the boon that gives your huge damage on the final hit of your combo (guaranteed with freezing him and any other enemy), and take any hammers you see and go to chaos gates.

Trying to get Zeus and Demeter on your cast is a good idea too especially since you really want to try and go to every Chaos gate as much as possible and it gives you more options to have useful boons if you can't get anything to modify your attack damage.

Aphrodite dash is also extremely powerful and she has another boon that gives you a flat increase to damage per hit which is extremely strong with a fast hitting weapon like the twin blades.

Chronos is actually a lot easier than Hades was IMO. You don't have to manage as many enemies or any stage hazards. Just don't over commit with any particular weapon. ALSO if you go with a freeze build and chase Aphrodite boons, you'll want to take the origination tarot card which will give you +25% damage to targets with 2 or more curses applied to them. Incredibly easy to do and it's a massive buff to your damage.
There was one move he has that sucks you in and it's so stupidly broken: it just shreds all of your health with no counter-play. Really lame mechanic.

Ultimately I think the best way "to win" is just going to be by unlocking the 2nd death defiance and taking lucky tooth or the thing that lets you do extra damage to thing that last killed you.

It's the same move you face in the fields of mourning. You have to dash to the side or dash past him (I think). Also, he's going to throw that move out until he starts going into his sequence where he stands still so it's your job to create distance OR dash around him repeatedly whilst looking out for any animations that indicate a cleave attack.
Thanks y'all o7

diabolical
You can cheese him with the axe, everytime he grunts just block and hit back. Repeat until dead.
Zeus/hestia boon that allows you to use your cast at enemies location + hestia/demeter/apollo/zeus dot cast damage. he's incredibly easy to avoid if you're not forced to be w/in melee range to damage him. I also like the boon from zeus that reduces max mana but gives you good mana regen and apollo's boon that reduces cast mana cost and the one that expands cast AOE. finally the keepsake that increases damage to the last enemy that killed you is really damn useful since chronos is just about the only enemy that will be. another protip is if you upgrade your chaos keepsake to max, equip it right off the bat, then unequip it after the first guardian, you'll keep the epic level boon for the rest of the run. ideally that'd be the increased cast damage but several of them are useful as well.
dont sleep on engraved pin Keepsake
its OP.
i managed to kill chronos for first time with this keepsake. even thou i only had 1 death defiance before fight

10 sec invulnerability and dealing any damage without getting hit its huge

also cast damage also pretty good from Zeus/Apollo

u need to learn when he doing the 999 damage and dont get hit by that - for that u kinda need faster run from hermes

My advice is to use Born Gain (Hera magick boon) to attain near limitless mana and spam long range omega attacks while kiting him around in the first stage. In the second stage, you can do the same, just be aware of the big area effects he throws out. When you see him standing still and here a loud ticking, get to the lit area because he's about to hit you for 1000 damage. The shrinking circle, you just need to dash over and the time bubbles you need to wait out. Avoiding hits is more important than scoring damage.

i never used hera much. kinda the weakest for bosses imo.
and born again sounds awful. if u heavy on mana u will concentrate all in no time.
and if u low mana usage there are plenty of better choices.

why u saying limitless mana i dont get
