Charybdis Too Hard?
For a mid boss, it seems a bit much. I seriously thought it was the final boss of the area and was surprised there was not a fountain after. maybe lower the number of tentacles by like one or something. i was clinging to life by the end of it and I had a great setup so far.

He's a bit much for a mid-floor boss yeah, not very complicated but he's got a lot of health.

He's indeed a bit overtuned. I find his tentacles a pain in the ass to deal with, especially their first attack when they slam down on the floor and shoot a ton of projectiles. Also, I hate Charybdis' homing projectiles. They are so hard to consistently dodge and I always end up taking a good chunk of my health.

Some of the boss' attacks are much larger than they appear, so that should be tuned down. Mostly I think he has too much health.

The first time he pulls up all Tentacles it's harder
But afterwards stay at range, bait the direct arrow attack and go for a chunk of damage

When he spams the mirv bombs run to the other side of the arena, wait for them to come halfway and start sprinting to the other end

It's really chaotic for the first time but he ends up being quite easy when you get used to it

But yeah for a "Guardian" enemy he's way too strong and common

I just wish the tentacles attacks were readable and friendlier to melee.

I get the feeling that he's meant to be the boss of the second zone, and that when the 3rd surface area is released then Eris will become the boss of that.

Frog blocks most of his projectiles.

Skill issues all over this thread.

Side step projectiles and dodge on top of the aoe melee attack, and that's how you stay in melee range.

Yeah, she is a bit overtuned, but the same could be said for a number of the bosses. Shes not...that hard to deal with after a bit of practice though.

Oh, and Charybdis is a female monster, usually pared with Scylla in a narrow straight that forced sailors to pick between being eaten wholesale by Charybdis' whirlpools or picked off one at a time by Scylla's heads. Nasty due, we should be thankful we only have to deal with one of them.

Not hard at all.

Agree with not hard at all. If you use Hestia sprint Charybdis (and last boss of run) are pitiful really. Even without Hestia sprint Frinos is a godsend for bullet absorption.

All that being said though... it seems odd that a mid-level boss has all the trappings of a final biome boss like Hecate. I've never seen a mini-boss with a full health bar at the top of the screen... except for Asterius, so I guess there is at least one reference for this encounter being valid.

when they shoot at you just run to 1 side of the area and sprint back to the other side, you end up halving to move around like 3 of the shots that splits up.

when you have hermes slowdown for enemy projectiles, the shooting balls dont reach the floor part.

I have a suspicion that Charybdis is in fact the final boss of the Rift, or at least will become the final boss once the rest of the surface is finished. It makes a kind of sense, thematically. You're ship-hopping across the Rift in these risen wrecks, Charybdis comes up, boss fight, she takes the ship carrying you down in her death throws and you wash up on Eris' beach with the boss drop. Meanwhile, Eris has finally grown bored of shooting you and flown off somewhere else to be a problem.

I kind of have my doubts they would shuffle around assets and I would imagine an entirely new boss will be added, but that's just guesswork either way. Plenty of names they can still draw from too: Lapetus, Hyperion, Typon, etc.
