Hades II

Hades II

Boon Offering Consistency
OK so, loving the game so far. Love the story, love the new mechanics, love a lot of the new build opportunities and depth and combinations but I've been running into a pretty frustrating issue.

Sometimes the Boon offerings just stay way too obscure to build a proper setup. I actually enjoy how the early stages are a bit tougher than in Hades but I feel like I can only enjoy the early biomes if i get a solid setup going. In the initial Hades it didnt really matter which God you got initially because at least you would have a decent starting point to work with. It would almost always give you a choice of Attack and Special boons and you can build your basic groundwork from there.

Now, the past three runs or so i swear ive made it all the way to the 2nd Guardian without receiving a SINGLE OFFERING of any attack boon at all. 2 whole biomes and not skipping Gods because im actually searching them out because, like, why am I in the 2nd Biome with nothing on my special or attack because i just get secondary side boons instead of being able to fill up my main loadout first.

Very frustrating when the game is actually really awesome but i feel like im not even getting to use half of whats available because it literally just doesnt give it to me at all and if i restart it just resets the same path. Love the game and will continue playing but trying to beat S****a (dont want to spoil) with nothing but auxillary boons is only so fun when ive had a few runs where ive been basic stocked with just common boons on Attack, Special, Cast and can manage properly, getting there with 1 or none feels like it just shouldnt happen.

Thanks Supergiant, im sure this will get fixed eventually and loving the game so far, regardless. Just some feedback that i had

I'm still at <10 runs but yeah it feels harder to get an even spread of boons this time around. I'll go into boss 2 while still missing attack and dash boons.

But to be fair, I think there's a lot more utility boons (some of which seem great). So there's that.

I'm getting this a lot too. I don't feel particularly thrilled to see most gods in this game because there are so many boons that cover the newer systems, some of which are... less than useful. And worse, there's a big degree of homogenization. Mana recovery boons, "prime mana to negate one hit of damage" boons, sprint speed boons. As a result, it feels like it's polluting the boon pool, giving no real options and just giving you kind of "meh" little bonuses. Even if you LIKE Sprint, or make heavy use of magic, it's best to have your more reliable sources of damage covered before you start working on the support upgrades.

With nearly 600 hours in the first game, the only god I truly hated to see was Ares. So far here in Hades 2? I don't much care to see any of them. I'll like Aphrodite ONCE, but after that she fills her pool with so many "strong bonus BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE 80%+ HEALTH!" or similar boons that she becomes effectively useless if you're not playing extremely safe, or just catch one rough room and have trouble ever recovering.

I agree with boons feeling...inconsistent. Then there's the whole sprint line of boons which seem a bit too weak and tied to a weird mechanic I don't use often.

At least for me the one that heals you to full as long as you don't go below a certain health from Aphrodite is pretty great, especially if you have another source of healing a little bit if you drop below that mark.

If you have increased your max health at all (which is almost unavoidable) then you have this constant big heal that keeps you from being chipped away a little bit at a time.

If you get below that point using another healing source to get back is easy enough, especially if you got Selene's heal.

And the more you upgrade aphrodite's heal the lower the health requirement goes making it even more powerful.

Idk I can see why it isn't super appealing but its pretty freaking strong imo.
