you are HUNGRY for those jesters sheesh
Zag was and is better. I could care less about the woke stuff people are complaining about. But the fact we dont get to use Zag in any fashion bothers me. Ill still play it however.
She's not in Zag's exact situation, but personally, I haven't found her too different from Zag, either. As far as her writing goes, it seems clean and sharp so far, I don't really see what's wrong with it. She's immensely goal-driven, but she doesn't let her goal necessarily distract her from the people around her and her connection to them. Zagreus was the same. That was the foundation of his intrigue as far as how he went about interacting with the other characters, at least to me, thinking about it now, and it's the exact same for Melinoe. She's open-hearted with her friends and allies and snarky at best/menacing at worst to her enemies.
Seems good to me.
Or how about MegaMan where we go from x to zero to alie/vent or ash and grey. Your not the same Pokemon protagonist in any of the games.
Your not the same cast in each tales of game or final fantasy game.
This is nitpicking at minimum and intellectualy dishonest at worst.
Definite mood <3. I loved aesthetic of Hades, but could not play because you were a male. Now I can enjoy the Universe.
from a writing perspective, hades 2 is even better than hades 1, and hades 1 is one of my all time favorite games.
on another note.
the amount of people who get upset because its a female lead, yet tell people to deal with male leads because it fits the story, yet when its a girl, they get upset.
Mechanically, Zag again prevails since he's more mobile. With Mel you cannot dash out of animations which hurts.
If anything any modern day game designer should allow gender selection, it cost pennies (compared to the overall game development cost) and bring them 15-30% higher sales from people who are uncomfortable to watch same/opposite-sex arse in the center of their screen for days
