Hades II

Sprint is... awkard
I get the mechanic, and absolutely there is value in sprinting in some cases (Like the mini boss that spits a hail of needles or the second boss arena wide attack), but it just feels... Off? There is almost no use in most of the normal rooms, just in bosses and mini bosses, and not even all.

It's almost like that it should either be your normal running speed (albeit maaaybe a tad slower) or just an automatic temporary buff you get when you dodge, like that Hermes Boon in the first game. Having to use it only like 2 rooms per biome is not really intuitive.

Agreed. And it could be that I just really suck at this game--first time really playing a rouge-like and first time using an X-Box controller--but sprint feels strange and it's hard for me to activate easily. Also, it's not that fast compared to normal movement. Though I've only been playing a couple hours now and I'm not that far into the game. (Again, I suck. Though I am slowly improving with each run.)

Yeah it feels way faster to dash a few times over running.

Plus that the controls for running are just a bit....off

Like you turn way slower than you'd expect to

Yep, it's awful. Honestly I don't think it even needs to be in the game.

Its a massive step backwards compared to the dash from the previous game. I hope they overthink this one. Either make it faster and/or let us change to the classic dash.

I constantly forget it exists and honestly actively avoid any sprint-related boons because it doesn't feel like something worth using in active combat

There are a lot of boons that affect it, to the point that in my last run sprinting was my main form of attack.

The dash is still there though?

+1 everything you've said

it feels a bit slippery to me, i do wish things that make use of it were stronger though (damage and such)

The dash is there with no way of upgrading it and you're forced to akwardly run around while the dash itself is choppy and not as good or fast as the one in the first game. Considering how many more stuff there's that kills you makes no sense that you're forced to run and either completely focus your boons on it to make it useful or just hope you do more damage.

The only two that I've found that are worth a damn are Apollo's, because it just passively applies Daze, and Hestia's, because it sort of acts like a budget version of Athena's shield dash from the first game.

Nah, you DEFINITELY need to try the Smithy Sprint that you get from Hephaestus. It's SO broken

The issue I have is that you have to many buttons you need to hold down.
Hold down dash to sprint hold down all other buttons to do omega attacks.
Juggen May 7, 2024 @ 12:51pm
It doesn't hurt to have it, but like has been said it mostly isn't useful.

I also got disappointed when I took Blinding Sprint that I thought was supposed to make my character dash faster, then I realized it didn't mean the same thing and you could actually run in the game.

Yeah honestly having to hold down the button feels awkward for Hades' signature fast-paced gameplay. Would be better if it was, say, a temporary buff after Dashing that stops when you attack or cast.
