The Tool System Sucks/Needs Reworking
I want to open a discussion over how i feel like this downgraded tool system should be upgraded again, it just feels like a way to pad out the time spent grinding, it kinda sucks.
Maybe there's a way to upgrade them later game that I haven't reached yet, but this kinda sucks and is slowing down the progression.
It doesn't feel like a "take the tool you need" situation, at least to me, it feels cheap.

+I see a lot of hate discussions on this game but I like it and genuinely want this game to improve as it exits early access, which will take awhile, and I think this tool system needs a rework.

+In the first game you hardly ever went through levels feeling like your missing out on something, I feel like this game should reflect that, its an adventure about dying so you should be rewarded for surviving to reach the items you need the tools for.

+There are several ways to go about this.
-let us use all the tools
-Introduce more abilities to obtain resources.
-if we can already (since I haven't gotten far enough to see it, and haven't gotten comments on it yet), let it be more clear or easier to obtain.
-boost the spawns on tools we carry, or force the game to spawn them only to reflect that, so each run with a tool is actually getting the resource
-Or, do it the worst way, and hide the resources we cant obtain to continue to throttle progression without making a positive change, so at least it feels better...

This games grind feels worse than the first Hades, Even if it isn't mathematically, its how the player feels that should matter.

Except if there is a recipe to use more tools at once, the tool system feels bad...
I can understand this kind of system IF there wasnt a dj crawler but this is Hades II.
It's more a lucky choice than a choice...

Yeah, I'm not sure about having to carry one tool at the time. It doesn't feel good to walk past an ore vein without being able to mine it because I took a shovel instead.

I feel like the IDEA here is to pick the tool for whatever you're short in (Need more Psyche? Take the tablet. Low on Silver? take the pick. etc) but it does feel really bad to have to walk past resources you could otherwise get. Not really game-ruining, though.

From a subtractive design perspective, they shouldn't even spawn in the nodes for the tool you didn't pick. All that does is saddle the mechanic with unnecessary stress and fomo. Might seem innocuous, but it adds to the sensation of 'buden' in systems like this.

100%, let me have all of them at the same time, I spent the material, let me have my work. Why the hell can the node for the item I don't have spawn in at all. Just to tease me?

Yeah it overly complicates an already tedious part of the game. Not a good mechanic.

I think it would be better if the tool made it so you got more of that specific resource. instead of only getting that resource. It does feel bad to not be allowed to grab something.

i hope they add a way from early game to carry more tools simultaneously as another way of progression

+1 on this whole topic, and especially this idea
the basic design idea of making us choose what we wanna prioritize is good, and works well with all the different resources we need, but not being able to use the nodes at all (thus massively reducing your influx of for example silver, at least as early into the game as I am), especially with the tease of still seeing them, is just needlessly torturing players
