How does mana regenerate?

I have about four hours in this so far and I still don't feel like I have a solid handle on how mana regenerates in the middle of an encounter.

I know that it refills at the beginning of a new encounter, and I know that various boons and cards can make it refill, but I really have no idea of when I should expect it to be refilled. I would love to see one of the characters explicitly tell me "mana regenerates at the beginning of an encounter, and in the middle of an encounter when blah blah blah".

Other than that it's gorgeous and a lot of fun now that I've gotten a handle on how to charge everything up and use mana, but I'm still really confused about when new mana shows up!

you pretty much got all the ways that you can recover mana. Its only at the start of encounters and from boons, minus a few exeptions like arachne's clothes. As far as i know, there is no way to recover mana in the middle of an encounter withouts boons, sadly

The boons and tarot card will tell you how to make mana regen. Just read.

Not really sure why you neglected Tarot Cards? You get straight up passive mana regen from there.

I definitely think Skelly or Hecate or someone needs to tell me mana simply does not regenerate on its own during an Encounter unless I have some boon/card/etc causing regen. Really just knowing that would have made me less befuddled. Stick this fact in after a couple of runs.

Skelly's like 3rd conversation or so with you is to tell you that your magick comes back whenever you go to a new location.
He doesn't tell you about all the other options and the tarot and all that, but those options are up to you, as they are choices that modify the baseline.

I disagree. I think being befuddled is a good thing.
