Hades II

Eris Curse
Why does this exists? It feels stupid. "Congrats on coming to Cronos, here is your +120% incoming damage buff". Lamest way possible to artificially prolong the game.

It's so people don't beat it on their first few runs.

Yeahh, it feels a bit silly, but...

It only repeats on a few runs and goes away after that. It's even hinted in dialogue. She will show up later on further into the game again as you progress, and so on ...

I know about that. It's still just bad game design. Why won't she insta-kill us right on the spot then? Same effect, but without wasting my time.

You know, what else could be a good blocker? Really hard endgame boss. Right now I can't even say if he is hard or not, cause I made it to him 4 times just to be killed with less than 4 attacks with insane damage buff.

all of my friends who haven't reached past hecate on their 1st run did not meet her at all, one of them has already got to the 4th boss (on their next runs) w/o ever talking to her

Probably the worst mechanic in the game thus far as it feels like it only exists to pad out the playtime and punish you for playing well.

Heading to a new area where you don't know the enemies and especially the bosses should be enough of a handicap without needing some artificial difficulty layered on top of it on X amount of runs before the game lets you progress normally.

It seems Hades2 went a bit softer on character buffs - you had to do couple runs in Hades1 to unlock basic character functions through the mirror. It is possible she is there to replace a roadblocks that previous system had. I don't think Eris presence is counter to Hades' design - but it is a bit more on the nose - you get "punished" for going too far, rather than being too weak and gaining reward to get stronger. But as long as she gets narrative pay off, I am game.

If you are good enough it doesn't waste your time, you are just taking more damage, it doesn't change the damage you are doing. If you are good enough, then it's a non-issue.

how many runs does it take for her to disappear for good? need to know how many times i should immediately kill myself before i can start playing the game for real
For me it took 3 encounters, and she was there again after every single boss. So basically 3 encounters per region.

The whole game is a phase between a basic fun arcade and a GaaS juggernaut forcing you play it for years while buying boosts and cosmetics. Enjoy! :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Love Hades 1, Love this game, but I would really like to see the devs explain the though process behind Eris. I can only understand it as a way to gatekeep early access content. It is like a blue shell from mario kart in a single player game. I don't want to say it is ruining my experience, but I just got to the final boss for the first time and I don't really want to get to him again knowing I'll have one hand behind my back the next two tries arbitrarily.

Also I don't understand sprinting except for enemies designed to force you to do it and the act 3 areas are too big but Eris is the biggest issue. Genuinely kind of raging about my last couple losses because of her.

Ah, yes, "git gud". Also, how many hours in-game it took you to kill both Eris and Cronos? With proofs and video where you do full no-hit run, please.

Regarding your argument — was there instant knowlege upload in your head about all attack patterns and phase specifics from some heavenly gutgamer source, without any need to watch and learn? Because for us, mortals, there is no such source, only practical expirience. And there was zero learning opportunities while under effect of that curse, because you take a lot of extra damage from every enemy on the way, so Cronos can execute your remaining health with one or two strikes.

Same. Got two extra runs to Cronos with her curse, just moved away from keyboard every time. After that? Man is dead within 4 attempts. Could be even faster, but I wanted to try these torches (that was a huge mistake).

Skill issue. If you're struggling so much try using God Mode in the options.

It's a gag, it is not that serious.

I was annoyed by it, and I was annoyed at HER, and that's literally the point. There are 10 thousand other things you can be doing, you don't need to beat the main story immediately. She stops doing it after the third time, if you are bored with the game because you aren't allowed to beat it on your third go-around, you are crazy.
