Hades II – are we really heading in the right direction?
Hey everyone who loves the Hades series,

I want to share my thoughts about the direction the latest game, Hades II, is taking. As a sequel to the beloved Hades, it brings a lot of changes that have mixed feelings for me.

First off, the main character Zagreus has been replaced by a new character, Melinoë. It's a big change that breaks away from the previous story. I get that these decisions can be tough and aim to refresh the game, but did we lose something important from the original?

Secondly, the game mechanics are very similar to the first part. I wonder if this is enough variety to justify releasing a new game, especially when the graphics and music, according to many, have gotten worse.

Hades II is currently in early access and as such is not complete, putting players in a dilemma: spend more money on an unfinished game, while the complete Hades is available for a fraction of that price.

I'm wondering why so many people defend this decision. Is it because of being part of a community that wants to stay up-to-date, or maybe involvement from people related to the game's production who care about its image? Could it be just a social phenomenon where "lemmings" follow the novelty, ignoring the clear problems?

I’d love to hear your opinions on this. Do you think the changes in Hades II are a good direction for the series? Or do you feel let down and think it’s just the "old" Hades in a new skin?

Looking forward to your comments and opinions.

Wait for full release, don't be a beta tester.

Obviously it's not. I spent time to write all of my thoughts. I expect someone will answer.
The first hades was in early access for 2 years. The story of Zagreus was finished. He was not replaced. There was always going to be a new main character. People are already reporting this game, in early access, has more content than Hades 1 did in release. That is what sequels do, polish/improve the gameplay of the first game and add some things.

Only ones so far throwing complaints like yours, which some are just laughable, are those attacking it from a political angle. Newsflash, anyone who thinks this game is "woke" should have equal issue with the first game. Cause it has all the same stuff unabashedly.

It's clearly not the old game in a new skin. Games following the same general format as their predecessors is literally how games work. Devil May Cry all involve "Guy with weapons hit things in stages".

They have made significant changes and improvements to every gameplay system. For the better.

The game is incredible. The level of design, polish, and attention to detail are first-rate.

Early Access games are to invest in a company spending extraordinary amounts of time and polish to a game, and Supergiant earn every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ penny.
This is AI generated.
