So is Hades 2 superior to Hades 1?
Based on your first impression. I will be waiting for 1.0 release.

As of now No. Here's why:

There is a lack of charm in the atmosphere and character development. In Hades 1 the hub area was warming, with interesting dialogues and interactions. The design was also very nice and unique. This time it's anemic, almost empty. I hope its a Early access thing. In hades one you had Hades talking to you, Zagreus having a back and forth with him and it would keep you intrigued. Nothing like that this time.

The heroine is strong. Think about it as Zagreus but with sorcerer abilities. I don't have any complaints about that.

Finally, they followed the woke route all in. I generally I dont care if there are mild awaken stuff. For instance Forbidden west is one of my favorites. But this time, it seems they detested any male figure. There are few inbetween and they are mostly feminine in various ways like having a lisp, or androgynous appearance. Female cast follows the diversity profile.

LOL@charm...I skipped every single cut scene in 1. I care about game play. i could care less about the politics. I can't even force myself to pretend to care about anything that's cell shaded mickey mouse BS. The proof's in the pudding - either plays great or it's a dud.

Clown ass comment
Stuff will get added. And even in Hades 1, your hub is "empty and soulless" at first and gets filled over time. Go start a new run and come back to me with that garbage. It's the same approach, just different plotline instead of escaping you're going to kill Chronos.

It's like, I dunno, it's a sequel and a different game? What a concept, right? lmao

I want to thanks everyone here for saving me the money to buy this game. I thought it was going to be another amazing SGG game like Transistor or Bastion and a even better use of greek mythology, but all i've heard and seen is that this one spits in the face of the original tales and tries to re-write mythology like those fools in Cleopatra 'documentary'.

Add that to the many people complaining about the gameplay itself and I'll just wait until it's truly out to try and look to give it a chance again.

I know right? Why do ppl waste their time with Kotaku or reddit. Just play the game if it's fun.

Lol at the bot posters in this thread all jerking each other off when none of them was ever gonna buy the game anyway.

Gameplay in 1 is better. It's very quick. This one is drawn out unless you have the big chop. Everything just dies so slowly. There's a very heavy reliance on charge abilities which also slows things down.

Didn't you say in the Hades 1 threads that you wouldn't buy this game anyway when it came to EA since it was so woke?
Jardex22 May 9, 2024 @ 7:37pm
At this point, it feels like you have to play the first game regardless. It feels like most of the interactions assume you know about the lore and terminology from that game. Melinoe's birthright is the largest example of this, since they don't really mention why she can't stay on the surface.

So play the first game to completion, maybe do some of the challenges and buy some cosmetic changes for the House. When you feel satisfied, move on to this game. It's not one or the other. It's one then the other.

I'v been having a blast, looking at the reviews people love this game, of course it is early access, things need to be looked at like weapons for instance, but hades 1 in early access also missed a ton of art and gods for a long time and was incredibly imbalanced, don't compare it to hades 1 it doesn't make sense. people that call this game ''woke'' are a minority and most people just play the game because it's fun and don't care about this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I love the characters, I love the ''witchy'' setting and the story more than hades 1, the game is already twice as much bigger than hades 1 and will get bigger when 1.0 releases.

if you wanna wait for the full experience which is understandable, wait for 1.0 but do yourself a favor and don't listen to people on forums that haven't even bought the game, played only 2 hours and completely disregarded the game because it's ''woke'', holy ♥♥♥♥.

and btw, they don't ''hate'' male characters, if you're looking for a father figure in your video games, there's plenty of cool male characters, this Ω guy probably played 20 minutes and hasn't made it to Heracles/Hades and saw that a few characters had more colourful looks and panicked, people like them get clown awards.

I think the game is great, maybe not quite as great as the first, but it's obviously still EA. My literal only complaint is that things feel a bit too spongy/tanky, but I'm only 5 hours in too, and I first played through Hades so long ago that I don't remember if stuff felt that tanky 5 hours in or not.

Anyone talking about wokeness is just flat out stupid, but these people see wokeness in literally anything so what you gonna do. Just be glad you aren't them I suppose?

Nope. Worse characters all around thanks to poor writing -- who are these characters, why should I care about their plight? None of this is in the game, really.

Core mechanics, the dash is *really* bad, and the Chronos boss fight is ridiculously overtuned. You can easily crush the whole game over and over and get destroyed on him nomatter your build, which feels terrible.

Magic is still unappealing at best, most of the weapons are bad or have serious issues, and the game doesn't have enough ways to grow your personal damage so everything feels like a sponge fight.

you need to play more, learn how to play the weapon and discover builds, it was the same for me after 5 hours but after 25+ hours now i can tell you there's multiple builds i'v found that melts bosses.

So far it already feels like improvement/expansion of every aspect of the first game.
More mechanics, more ways to get power, higher density and variety of enemeies, bosses got more epic. I absolutely love the second one.
Relationship system looks better. I haven't maxed it. And it is probably not fully finished yet. But from UI it seems, you need to feed a lot less gifts to the gods, while relathionships with your encampment involves more activities.
You are no longer limited to one dungeon, there are already two different ones. And there is also the third activity - kind of a challenge missions, where you are given a starting build and you have to complete only one act with it. So already more variety there.
So yeah, 1.0 is going to be insane.

It looks like it will be, cant belive it but the Music is even better then in the First one and the Music of the First was allready Top Notch.
Story is good, since i played the first im 100% invested into the story, gameplay - well everything but the Dash is like in the first so its pretty dang good (like, you cant really make it much better).
Theres More Content then in 1 allready, like alot more and there is more to come.

I also dont give a damn about that American Virus named "Woke", character disign is dang good and Voice Actors are also good.
