They've also committed to maintaining save compatibility throughout, so there shouldn't be worries about e.g. losing the accumulated progress of many runs when 1.0 is released.
But there's a solid 25 hours of content. I don't regret playing it in early access.
My plan is to return every time there's a major update for another 5-10 hours. :P
25 hours just how long it too me to hit both early access walls and decide "I'm good for now. I'll come back when there's more reason to keep going".
Sure, you can play more than that and keep improving your Arcanas and weapons, etc.
I just felt less incentive to do so without additional content.
Best part of early access is to witness changes happen in real time imo while also contributing a voice to the end result. Patches 1 and 2 have already considerably altered gameplay since launch.
Average runs are probably 30~50 minutes for average players and most people get their first Chronos kill between 20~40 runs (based on reviewing forum posts that ask people how many runs it took to beat x route). 40 runs at 30 min (or vice versa) a pop is gonna be 20 hours, so falls in line with above poster.
Supergiant also has expressed desire for EA players to keep all progress upon release of 1.0. If you are the type to want to finish 32 fear on both routes, farmed as many relationships you can, unlock all spells (cauldron), upgrade all weapons etc EA will provide extra time to knock that all out earlier than later. As is we will still have the entire 3rd act to complete as well even if you 100% the game as is.
It might even be a brag down the line to accomplish things as is since more likely than not the game will get easier by 1.0.
As is $30 is a dang steal for a game I myself have over 200 hours in and still playing/enjoying.
This game already has a bunch of content and they are only adding more and more. I think it's already worth every penny I spent.
There's a massive amount of content already, but ultimately you still aren't allowed to beat the questlines properly. On the positive side, I guess we will have the advantage of many hours' practice but I think we've probably all found our levels at this point, and there's a long wait until v1.0.
