Polyphemus needs a full rework
Hes literally a basic enemy who you will never take damage from if you're playing any ranged build, but its literally impossible to not take a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage if youre playing a close range build. such a weird and strangely designed fight

Absolutely agree. It's incredibly difficult to fight him using the Sister Blades especially. It's like the MOMENT he starts moving, there's a 10ft radius of *♥♥♥♥ you* around him.

His AoE's? Easy. Adds? Fine. Annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ murder sheep? kinda silly how high its dps is, but sure. His damn jump animation doing like 15 damage and that he almost always seems to jump towards you with barely/if any windup? Nah that BS.

Yeah you get damaged just for being in contact of him on frame 0 of his animations with ZERO tell as to when he's gonna do it. I was using ranged weapons and thought he was easiest boss in the game and am now doing melee runs and jfc it is impossible to dodge damage with melee

Even if you're playing a 'ranged' build you still want to be point-blank for nearly everything in the game. Very easy to dodge his moves as they're so slow and telegraphed.

Cool character but fight definitely needs to be refined, especially the small jump that hits you right away and the sheep should not be immune to dmg

He also just has really wonky hitboxes in general,especially with his grab but i attribute all that to being in the heavily WIP area of the game that is nowhere near finished.

True, but at the same time, Hades 1 is really polished and refined, and you'd think they could have built this game on the bones of that one.

Honestly, he's just... Tedious. Most of the complaints I have with him have already been said here, but I'll say my biggest one: He isn't fun. No part of his fight is entertaining. Pretty much every other boss I've run in to is a blast to fight, but Polyphemus is the most flowchart, boring thing in the game. You're either baiting out a recovery animation or waiting to hair trigger the Dodge button unless you get chipped by his jump.

I'm a game that already has so many dynamic and interesting boss fights, this one is just a bust imo.

This right here. He is a very easy and mechanically extremely simple boss fight - that just...takes...so...much...time. He is the textbook definition of a bullet sponge. Downright: no fun at all. Tedious, as you perfectly framed it.

I have only fought cyclops with the sisters blades. It hasn't been an issue. If I play sloppy I get punished. If I stay on my toes I barely take any dmg at all.

Yeah looking at his move set especially as an axe enjoyer and working on getting better at skulls makes me not even want to bother trying to learn even if I could. Like I don’t want to be forced to dodge never ending aoe’s when I’m just trying to attack. I thought the underworld boss 3 was bad but at least as others pointed you can attack behind him at least a bit slower you can actually sprint or dodge kind of. He is also bigger so you have more windows of attack but like yeah cyclops might be most toxic boss to fight melee. At least with chronos you would at least have a better build by that point and better designed attacks.

I feel like a lot of people in the thread haven't yet figured out that you can dodge on top of aoe dmg and iframe it. You can stay close to cyclops.
