Hades II

Isle of Circe Feels Really Out Of Place
Her voice acting is very cartoony, the happy music, and her concept art all make it feel like I'm suddenly in a Disney game instead, becomes even more stark a complete removal when hearing Homer do his interaction lines while this happy-go-lucky music is playing.

>suddenly in a Disney game instead

the pigs that she is happily talking to, and Melinoe talks to a bit, are humans that she has turned into animals just for her own amusement

The problem here is that Circe is the symbol of the ancient Greek world for witch combo of mysterious, powerful, seductress and smart. The English teapot furry Mary Poppins version is just a kind of miss.

IMHO, I feel the characters are a bit less inspired this time around even if some design are awesome.

Have you considered that the Mary Poppins thing she's doing is just a put on for Mel? You can even hear her occasionally break the character in some of the dialogues, especially ones mentioning Odysseus and Hecate.

Now that someone else said it first, yeah I can back this up.
Personally Odysseus could be absent and nothing would be lost, and Melinoë talking to Echo is jarring when the gimmick grows old.

But it is what it is, though I do like Heracles and Icarus enough to counteract some of the other characters.

for god's sake, the story is not complete. Have you ever thought about how Eurydice feels out of place in tartarus? A place full of skelletons and then a happy singer who feeds you.
But then, you learn the story of hoy Orpheus failed her, you make them happy again and they sing WONDERFULLY when you take Persephone home.
Maybe Circe doesn't make sense now. I will wait for the art to be complete as well as the story. Then i will decide if it's something i like or not

She seems fine to me. It's not as if the first game didn't have similar spots of levity to break up all the gloom and action. Circe feels like a foil to Medea, a bit of chipper brightness from the former to complement the latter's glib morbidity. It makes the surface a lot more interesting, and characterizes this coven of witches a lot better than if they were all just different flavors of Hecate. I dig it.
