Hades II

Hades II

Should I get Hades II or Hades I
Do I need to play the first one, or does it matter. And if so what game should I get.

Hades 2 does not have a finished story yet, even though there's a lot of it in already

Definitely go try out Hades 1 first and finish the story, it will be a good basis for 2 since you know what has been taken away from Melinoë, and beating the current underworld final boss teases you hard with context from Hades 1

Both are fantastic, but you should play the first one first, especially while the second is still brewing (heh) in Early Access.

Hades 2 is a direct sequel. Also, Hades 2 (at least currently) is a lot trickier and more complicated than the first game. Definitely start with the first game.

Hades 1, it's finished and is amazing :zagmad:

Hades 1 if you have one choice.

What do you mean by trickier and complicated ? I find Hades 2 massively easier than Hades 1. I already have chronos on farm before hitting the 20 run mark.

That might not be what you mean, though.

Hades 2 has weirder boons, weirder weapons, more involved and easier to mess up meta progression, and more to keep track of in battle (like armored enemies that are so fast you HAVE to slow them with Casts to avoid damage). I find it easier to get explosive builds in Hades 2, which makes it EVENTUALLY easier*, but the baseline difficulty is higher and progression is slower.

Like, in Hades 1, I think any player could clear the game after 3-4 runs if they're able to buy two Death Defiances and various cheapo bonuses from the Mirror of Night. But it takes longer to get that equivalent power through Arcana.

*However, high-Fear is much harder than high-Heat. Excluding Aspect of Momus, of course. But I assume that'll change in the future once we get equivalents for Extreme Measures, Benefits Package, etc).

Thanks for the clarification. It's a good sign that high fear is harder.

Yes.

Hades 1 has much better writing. Hades 2 has slighty better combat but is a lot harder (or am i just bad at this new system?). You do not need to play the first, but if you play the second details about the first will be spoiled. Both games are fantastic and worth playing, so imo get Hades 1 then get Hades 2

The honest answer is Hades I for the finished story and details done tweaking; this gives you a sense of what to expect for these games. Be aware, however, that Hades II has plenty of mechanistically different things so regaining your footing is more or less imminent when you transition to its sequel.

The real answer is BOTH OF THEM.

Hades 1 is much better. Forget about 2 it's meh.

sry for reviving necro thread but i played both and i can say that i enjoy hades 1 a lot more, but i think thats because the combat is easier and you dont have to grind as much in the first game to become powerful enough to beat the final boss

hades 1 than once full game is out 2. or if you have the luxury get both.
