Hades II

Hades II

How long did it take you to beat Chronos?
A bit over 18 hours and I finally got him. Is this above or below average? Action rpgs aren't my primary jam. What is average? 22 runs though some of those I suicided or farmed rather than made an earnest attempt to win

It took me around 50 runs, but I truly did not rush at all. I took my time to farm, unlock stuff, upgrade the arcanas, the trinkets etc.
(because I'm 97% sure there will be awards for doing those things in the future)

If it wasn't for that, given my advanced skills, maybe I would have taken 47 nights instead :p

(kidding... Maybe it would have taken me around the 20-30 nights which has been the average)
I did it in my first 5 hrs or so maybe less, but then again I have a lot of hours in hades 1 and since they play identical it could be due to experience. Although Hades 1 didn't take long either but longer than Hades 2 as Hades 2 is an easier game imo than 1. I also naturally play difficult games so again it's just experience from that which probably helps.

50 runs, with the axe, but that was going slow and often dying on purpose for progression.

33, but I tried to make a screenshot and pressed the F10 button which froze my game dead. Next time it was like ~6 runs later.

I've "beat" both games at 24h~ish
Currently at 19.4h for Hades 2 and I'm farming both end bosses so I think I have the 5 hours to clear what story-end game there will be at 1.0

Oddly enough I don't find Hades 2 nearly as challenging as Hades 1 was with Megaera, Theseus and Hades as bosses, the only real deal was Chronos himself and that's not even because the boss is particularly good lol

15 runs but I'm kinda mad about it because on my 11th run I didn't understand the instakill move on his second phase so I lost despite almost beating him anyways, after that I went to the surface for the next three runs for materials for the durface incantation.

Lmao yeah not the only one
First time getting to the second phase and Chronos spawned the safe area outside my screen, the 800 damage popup with no clear explanation was such a fun experience of trial and error

11 runs, It was annoying, I prefer hades of the first game, it's something fairer and more balanced.

Finally defeated Chronos in my 46th run, with the double moonshot, wave flourish, divine vengeance and witch staff build. That build is OP and might be nerfed soon. Also took me 3 Death Defiances to do so as 2nd phase Chronos was usually in his more aggressive state.

Chronos is harder than the average set by bosses in this game on purpose, and imo is enough of an outlier that any run that makes it to the man should be considered a success regardless of how the fight against him actually goes. I reached him for the first time around Run 35 myself, took me until after run 40 to actually beat him.

On paper, nothing Chronos does is that difficult to deal with on it's own. For example, throwing down the cast prevents his dash from going anywhere despite how he's not slowed by frost or the like. The wide sweeps are evaded by dashing behind him, same with the tornado. Back off and play defensively when he's surrounded by the yellow orbs or makes the big time-stop dome. None of these are that difficult, but all of them come out so fast and usually from halfway off-screen while you're busy dealing with the many adds he's spawning. And of course, any mistake is socking you for a massive 35+ damage each, so you can hemorrhage health very quickly.

It's a lot to keep track of, and some people are simply better at that level of information processing than others. Skill and experience only get you so far against him, you can know the perfect responses to everything he does and he'll still clip you from time to time. Thus, if you're not one with strong reflexes you're essentially forced into building tanky to deal with the excessive damage you WILL be taking against him.

i beat chronos with 8.4 hrs of playtime ^-^ if I'm not mistaken that's around 10+ failed attempts no more than 20 (i lost count tbh), even if it was brutal i enjoyed it :) my Hades 1 experience def helped alot hahaha

night 57. i can reliably get to phase 2, but i need to have done a good job on the run, getting a lot of synergy, to have a hope of getting a kill

i like having the boss be hard though, it keeps repeated game play interesting

Night 13 for me was it.

21 according to the sage, 7 deaths to Chronos. Albeit hadn't played Hades 1 since its release week and I didnt even unlock a lot of mechanics until after my first Chronos kill (e.g. familiar). Basically had to relearn the game from scratch. Albeit pretty happy about it in hindsight. Had I still been "in touch" with Hades 1 I'd likely have run out of content much quicker.
