What happens when you give up?

What exactly happens when you 'give up'
If youre confused as to what i may mean by this strange phrase, I'n specifically referring to what happens to the dungeon generation?
Like I can literally sometimes be halfway through a dungeon and give up, to literally see the exact same rewards from the doors, but its been a bit hard to confirm.

giving up resets the night. the first reward will always be the same and it's likely the second will also. after that however it's less deterministic and more randomized. giving up also means sacrificing any items you picked up along the way and any progress you've made with the gods

it almost never changes.
weirdly enough the boon rarity will remain the same in slot even if you change keepsake to make it a different god, same with hammers you can change weapon and the hammer will always be there, hell even re-rolls on boons and doors remain the same.
It is super dumb that you can be rewarded for wasting 10 minutes checking what boon you want and whether or not re-rolling is worth it.

Giving up goes back to the beginning of the night, and when you start it'll use the same seed again, so if you don't mind wasting large amounts of time, you can scout the seed and plan your run.
