So when I hear Hades won't have co-op it makes me sad. I like playing with friends. Also, if a game has co-op, you can always play it solo, so everyone enjoys in the end
We actually asked Hades 2 to feature co-op when it wasn't announced.
While you are right the game would cost more to the devs if online co-op was implemented, it would also potentially sell more. I mean... I know some people, myself included, that aren't going to buy because it's solo only.
The creators of Curse of the dead Gods heard the community and is now launching an online co-op game, which, of course, can also be played solo.
One of the best RPG games out there actually allows for co-op: Baldurs Gate franchise, neverwinter nights and Divinity.
You can't tell me RPG games are not heavily focused on story, my man
Also, there are lots of horrible solo only games out there. Remember when Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky launched?
So, being solo or online is not a reason for a game to be bad or good. An online game can get Bad reviews because it's not working? Yes, but so a solo only game because it's bugged (last of us PC comes to mind). Solution: polish your game before launching it
I might be wrong about these old-school CRPG, but sometimes co-op can ruin the immersion, I have a friend who never played Half-Life 2, but he doesn't like playing solo, so the only way we could make him to complete Half-Life 2 was through a co-op mod (Synergy) and he completed it with 3 best friends, but in the end, he wasn't amazed by this legendary game...
Maybe it was because the game didn't passed the test of time or maybe because playing a singleplayer oriented game in a co-op actually ruined his experience...
This request strikes me as being a little like requesting an easy mode on Dark Souls. It could be done, it'd be (and feel) tacked on, and it'll superficially seem like a really good move, but you lose something when artistic vision is compromised to appeal to more players. The extra players will play a kind of bastardised version of the game, not the experience that the creators have carefully cultivated.
Hades is a story-driven roguelike, built around one demigod's struggle against the impossible. You could change it to a party co-op, but then it wouldn't be Hades any more.
Just a thought. Thanks for the clown points. :)
