Hades II

Hades II

Any chance for Linux support?
Supergiant's Linux support was first class, was kinda sad we didn't get Hades. Any hope we could finally get this one at least?

Proton exists. Hades 1 was on every Steam Deck ad ever.

Supergiant Games have abandoned support for Linux. Proton instead of native. (

I hope they can bring the original Hades and Hades 2 when it releases. I only like and support native linux releases.

Likely never going to happen as that would involved specifically bringing in someone or hiring a company like that is familiar to do Linux OS porting work especially since things like Proton exists now. Also SGG isn't exactly a triple AAA either since they are relatively small indie-like company that only release a single title a few years or so and self-publish their own game.
They used to do native ports in the past. Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre were all top-notch

bought all games from this team except for hades. won't buy hades2 as well. i used to like them and now i don't. such disappointment.
If proton works well and flawlessly, whyyyy do we need native one anyway? In my experience, for games that have both proton and Linux port, I usually have more success with proton anyway, native Linux port tends to get weird bugs due to tech issues and lack of support.

Hades 2 is giving me a black screen and hogging the CPU to the point where it's difficult to exit the game. I tried multiple proton version (experimental, 9 and 8), all behaving the same.
AMD CPU and graphics card here (latest drivers).

So.. proton seemingly doesn't work flawlessly for everybody, but thank you for your input.

It runs on my Ubuntu (still 23.10) with Intel Arc A750 and Proton Experimental with the following launcher command I found elsewhere in this forum:

PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 SteamDeck=1 %command%

Never gonna happen (native port).

Just accept that Proton is your new god (for linux gamers).

you can play on linux with GFN. We just need Supergiant to add their game to GFN ffs. It's a box on steam to check. Just ADD IT PLEASE for the love of god

Better performance, better compatibility, easier to diagnose issues with, doesn't keep your system restricted to Steam, doesn't act as an extra layer of DRM, easier modding, easier access to save data, faster booting and load times, less shader compilation, futureproofing for when Proton inevitably becomes depricated, promotes Linux as a standard which is a necessity for the future of PC as a platform, so on and so forth.

Have you tried literally any Linux port made in the last 5 years? After Vulkan released they're all universally better than Proton. Have you only played those terrible "ports" that were actually just Wine bundled with the Windows version? Because I hate to tell you - Proton's just a continuation of those. An improvement sure, but far from what's needed.

Also saying Linux ports get "less support" is hilarious. As if a single developer has ever assisted non-Steam Deck users with Proton lmao

Why? Works perfectly fine with Proton.
