What are mods in Ready or Not
- Mods are modifications to the base game.
- They either change pre-existing files from Void Interactive or add custom content made by the community.
- The most common file format for Ready or Not are .pak files, including graphics, textures, objects, or other types of files.

Where can I download mods for Ready or Not?

There are three methods to install mods for Ready or Not.

Mod.io (In-game)
On the main menu, you will notice a button labeled "Mods" under the options button. Once you login, you can pick and download mods from the in-game menu.
- You can use the search function to look for specific mods.
- Subscribing to a mod will automatically begin a download, unsubscribing will automatically remove it.
- There is no speed limit to downloads.
- Is installed to a mod.io folder in your game paks folder (Ready or Not > ReadyOrNot > Content > Paks > Modio > 3791)
- Requires a restart to apply mods properly.

Mod.io Website
You can go to https://mod.io/g/readyornot and scroll through the catalogue of mods.
- There is a search function and specific tags for mods, including individual weapons, map types, etc.
- The game must be restarted or must be closed for mods (when installing) to properly apply.
- There is no speed cap.
- Mods must be placed in Ready or Not > ReadyOrNot > Content > Paks > Modio > 3791

Nexus Mods

- Mods can be filtered by recent uploads, popular, trending, etc.

What do I need to add mods to Ready or Not?

Mod.io Website & Nexus Mods
You will need to download a .zip software to be able to properly unpack mod files to install correctly. Common softwares include:

📦 7-Zip: https://www.7-zip.org/
📦 WinRar: http://www.win-rar.com/
📦 PeaZip: https://peazip.github.io/
📦 If the .zip was created with the inbuilt Windows tool, it can be extracted with Windows as well.

Where do I put the .pak after installing?
After you download the mod, open the .zip folder to reveal the .pak file. Afterwards, put it in steamapps/common/ready or not/readyornot/content/paks

Alternatively

You can create a "mods" folder in paks, and place them there for easier management.

Important Notes
- Always check the mod for dependencies, or it may not work. Dependencies are additional mods/files required for the mod to work.
- Some mods replace content already in-game and will not show up as individual items, such as cosmetics.
- Do not add mods that do the same purpose, for example, two AI mods may cause crashing when installed together.
- Only install up to date mods (December 10, 2024) or you may face errors and crashes. If you are unsure when the last update was, check the announcements section.

What types of mods are currently supported for Ready or Not?
While Void plans to release a software development kit (SDK) for modders in the future, modders are currently not able to twist the game to their exact wills.

Ready or Not Supports:
- Uniforms/Outfits/Armor
- Weapons
- Attachments
- Gear
- Custom maps/levels
- Custom AI configurations
- Music replacements (only manually!)
- Voice overs (only manually!)
- Reshade (only manually!)
- Movie/splash replacement (only manually!)
- Partial custom Blueprint/scripting functionality (read mod descriptions carefully!)

Ready or Not Does Not Support:
- Replacing existing game menus
- Replacements for original Ready or Not maps
- Major overhauls/changes to core gameplay, such as new AI behaviors.

Why are some mods not supported in the in-game Mod.io system
The in-game system can only read .pak files, and as a result cannot install mods such as music or sound replacements (.ogg or .bank.) This applies to reshade, so these mods must be manually installed.

How can I play coop with mods installed?
Modding coop in Ready or Not is possible, but comes with specific rules.

Serverside Checksum
When modding, disable serverside checksum to be able to host lobbies with modded content. Otherwise, users will not be able to join you.
- Serverside checksum is in game options at the very bottom of the list.

Custom maps in Ready or Not
Custom maps require ALL members of the lobby to have the map to play it properly, and thus cannot be played in random lobbies (without extreme luck.)
- It is recommended to run the map at least once in singleplayer prior to entering coop to generate map data.
- When installed properly, maps will appear in a unique tab of the map screen called "modded levels."

What about other mods?

To keep it simple, and this may not apply universally.
- Cosmetic mods are user side, and while they are registered by the game, are only visible to the person who has them installed.
- Gameplay overhauls such as gunfighter MAY require all players to possess them, such as gunfighter movement, to avoid issues.
- AI mods require the host to have them installed or there will be no effect.
- Sound mods are only available to the user who has them installed.
- Mods that use vanilla content (even hidden content) are visible by the entire lobby but only usable by those who have them installed, such as 9-bangs.

How do I remove mods from Ready or Not?

Mod.io In-game
- Go to the main menu and select "mods"
- Login and go to the subscribed tab, and unsubscribe from the mods you want to remove.
- When backing out, hit yes to restart the game.

Mod.io Website & Nexus Mods
- Go to Steams Library and right click on Ready or Not, and under manage select "browse local files."
- Go to ReadyorNot > Content > Paks and delete the mod files, do NOT touch the files named "pakchunk#-Windows.pak" EXCEPT for "pakchunk20" which can cause crashing.
- It is normal for there not to be a pakchunk# 20 and 21.
- If you accidentally delete a pakchunk# that is not 20 or 21, return it from the recycling bin, or you will have to reinstall a large part of the game.

How do I make mods?
Documentation and question channels are available on the unofficial modding Discord "Ready or Mod"
https://discord.gg/ZAEFdaMh9S

Is this mod recent enough to work? Is it updated
Only mods updated ON or AFTER December 10th, 2024, are compatible with the current version of the game unless confirmed by the author that they are functional.

Serialization Error: Action Needed - Corrupt Data Found, Please Verify Your Installation
This is caused by two issues, the presence of pakchunk20-windows.pak, or having outdated mods. View the methods below on how to remove bad mods.
