Steam version vs. cracked

Hi.

Why is it that the legitimate versions of a game (lets say from R* Launcher or Steam, etc) lag far worse than a cracked version of RoN (or any other game)? I 'did' have the cracked version and it worked smoothly with the exception of proper online capabilities, but since I purchased the game and installed it via Steam it lags bad. Doesn't matter about the graphics settings, they are the same as they were set on the cracked version and it was fine.

I know many will claim "Oh your PC is so old it won't run the game" and that nonsense alike but claiming my PC is "too old" or "won't run a game" is speculative considering my games do run fine most of the time.

I cracked RDR2 before I bought it on R*L, it ran smoothly asf, same graphics settings (default), when I bought the game (removed the cracked one) and installed it, used the same settings across, laggy as F***.

Can anyone explain this?
(Those who know what they're talking about only please, I don't need my time wasted by half assed people thinking they know what they're talking about when in actuality they're just chatting rubbish)
