Why do you guys care about S-rank?
It seems very artificial and cheesy to me. Already in SWAT 4 to be honest, so it's not exclusive to RoN. The only way to achieve is to glitch and cheese the whole map with ridiculous amounts of gas and so on. It's also completely unrealistic and breaks all immersion for me: nobody would be shooting bean bags and pepper balls at a suspect in body armor with an assault rifle opening up on you. Then next it takes away a lot of the tension, the shoot-don't-shoot moments -- admittedly RoN does not allow for much of this, or non-lethal shots.

It's just something I told myself not to bother with, and then the game is actually kind of fun (with flaws).

Tried S all levels purely for unlocks, other than that I don't care. Didn't use less than lethal since then, I'm totally Ok with A killing suspects not willing to surrender.

EDIT: Also stealth is my favorite genre so I tend to play other games non lethal.

I don't think anyone cares about them in the way you're implying, they're just a neat challenge to strive for.

Obviously you're suspending your disbelief to a degree in how you achieve that perfect score relative to realistic circumstances. The way I see it and I believe its been stated somewhere in these threads before, A+ is the true high score as close to "realism" as it might come.

S ranking is, as I said, there for the challenge and contrary to what you say, the tension is very much present if not even higher and cheesing in order to achieve an S rank is not necessary by any means.

You should get a load of Hitman WOA's challenges, both in game and community driven. They love that ♥♥♥♥, it's fun.

On paper, S-rank is ideally what you should be striving for when playing a game about police (e.g. arresting all suspects, no casualties, etc.). But the current state of the game, it simply isn't immersive or fun. I can S-rank missions but it never felt rewarding, more like I was forced to play in a way that was never intended (e.g. spamming non-lethals on borderline suicidal suspects).

S-rank should be a challenge, tricky to get, but satisfying when you do everything right. But as it stands, it's not satisfying at all.

I love challenges and I love the game, but sometimes it just doesn't makes sense at all. If the game forces you to play the way it is not supposed to be, it starts to get boring

Just like the challenge tbh, downloaded an AI mod so its not so unfair and cheesy and a mod to lighten ROE violations for terrorist like enemies. Makes going for S rank feasible without the unauthorized use of force for literal terrorists nonsense.

A friend and I are currently running through the whole game so far non-lethally and we haven't 'cheesed' anything. I run pepperball, he runs bean bag. We breach and clear like any other team. We've S ranked every mission up to and including Elephant.

If you're so annoyed about it just throw one of the mods like No Mercy for Terrorists and play how you want.

What I want to actually see is taser being able to be used with shield again so shield has a stronger spot in the non-lethal game.

There seems to be less enemy aggro when you use pepper balls. Probably because pepper balls and taser are the quietest weapons hands down. The difficult part is when a suspect is close to civilian, you get RoE violations.

Those damn pepperballs are worthless, they need a serious buff. I started with the VKS but after having to empty entire magazines on 1 suspect by the time I got to Brisa Cove, I went with the beanbag shotgun.
Yeah it's loud, enemies will come, but those suckers kneel before me after a single hit. At the very least they stumble so hard without shooting that you can easily place a followup shot.

Don't get me wrong. On paper the pepper balls are much more appealing to me too...

Pepperballs work on suspects in cover, just shoot the floor next to them. They are unrealistically effective I find.

Also do not get me wrong, people who S rank this game either cheat, do it in Multiplayer, or lack common sense.

You only get an RoE violation if you actually hit the Civilian with the pepperball projectile, not the AoE puff that it lets out.

It's pretty easy to farm S ranks in MP with pepperballs, but also very boring and cheesy. Easier to just mod the game to allow for lethal takedowns and save yourself the time and effort.

If by lacking common sense you mean being a stubborn bastard that won't let up, then yeah, I qualify for that. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Maybe for you that's the only way to achieve it but not for everyone. Going for S-Rank is fun to do as challenge especially if you add personal restrictions to your attempts like Soloing without SWAT AI , NO mods and other restrictions. When you've already done everything in this game than all that's really left to do is set challenges for yourself for replay value and achieving S-Rank adds replay value to the game.

I understand police RoE can be up to interpretation during high profile cases, but like..... Neon Tomb is one where I have absolutely no idea why police would do anything other than swiss cheese the ♥♥♥♥ out of anyone who did not immediately drop their gun.

If I approach a suspect who has his gun lowered, but he's starting to retreat, yeah.... I'm going to blow him away. This guy, and his comrades, have already killed like 242,503,401 civilians. Why would I let his level 6 armored ass retreat back to an area with civilians? So he can kill more with his light machinegun? It's extremely unrealistic.
