Basically RoN has less features than SWAT 4 in general, yes some little details here and there (formation, stack left/right) but overall it offers less than SWAT 4.
Lol, the game that was fixed and loved thanks to the EFM?
100% agree. I've played Swat 4 and 3 in direct comparison to RoN. Even Swat 3 was better than RoN in every aspect besides graphics.
Both games felt way more immersive.
Granted the overal experience and presentation was a bit better in swat but that's about it.
Yes the potential is there.
But with those developers.. nay never.
But I hope they change my mind someday.
Improved?
EFM literrally overhauled the entire game, anyone that wanna believe your crap should go and check the EFM page themselves and look with their own eyes how deeply EFM basically changed SWAT4.
Before that, Swat was a fun game, but faaaaar from the glorified version a lot of people keep babbling about here.
If memory serve me right, Swat 3 was released at the end of 1999 and swat 4 mid 2005.
Here you have 5 year of development right there. Which the normal user (unlike now) did not get to experience, you got the final produce, as if you were to buy RoN on their official release date.
EFM was like 2016, almost 10 years after. Modders came and literally overhauled the entire game because of how flawed the base one is.
And now, almost 10 year later you are all here praising SWAT4 itself, while 90% of the merit of how good the game is goes to EFM.
While at the same time crapping on RoN devs while the game is been officially out for a month, with holidays in between. Or shouting things like "mods are not supposed to fix the game" while at the same time praising Swat4(efm).
Everyone saying Swat 4 vanilla is a better experience than RoN vanilla is straight up on a nostalgia trip.
Give your feedback, but at least give em the time to collect then and fix the game, there is no need for the hate the devs are getting
While you have some points at the description you gave for swat 4 and I think you know what you are talking about I have to disagree with your last sentence:
Void's Strategy to release RoN in a state that is at best a Beta Version and calling it a 1.0 before christmas selling it at increased price (I`ve paid 50 Euros) leaves more than a bad taste.
At the same time they released trailers in which they claimed how revolutionary and well worked out their game and AI system is. I still have hopes for the game, but I have the feeling void was not honest about their final product and now this awful silence by the devolopers.
I can`t remember when the last time was I regreted spending that much money on a game.
Maybe they dont deserve that much hate, but they also don't deserve the praise.
After I finished the campaign in RoN I went on and played Swat 3 and 4 again.
Even Swat 3 was the more immersive Expirience. Those games are Classics for a reason. I don't think that RoN is a game people will talk about in 20 years. The potential is there, but not as the game is now. And in regards to Void I am somehow pessimistic after this release.
The early builds of RoN looks more like a clone of R6 siege than a clone of Swat 3/4.
Don't worry for me bro, i still have the original SWAT4 physical copy as well. I don't need to re-learn anything.
I never said SWAT 4 was a bad game, i said it was a fun one. But the vast majority of people that overhype it, do so with EFM in mind and probably barely remember the vanilla experience.
And i don't think is fair to compare a Vamilla game with a game with an insane mod like EFM that got like 5 years of update as well.
I never said that they deserve praise, i said that they should be allowed to have time to fix what they called their 1.0 product.
I really dont get your point.
The mechanics are better than swat 4.
The way you play the game depends on you. If you rush it john wick style its your fault. Im certain if u play swat 4 nowadays it would feel dull and lame.
This game is definitely a successor. But just not if you are playing it like its cs.
My opinion, make the bots even better and put a real threat on the players, its too easy atm so they stop rushing like idiots.
If you can still replay those games then you never really played them enough. Go play them you noobs.
It's obvious how much more thought was put into SWAT 4 when it comes to the core gameplay. Suspect AI is much more human, SWAT AI has more personality and whilst not perfect, at least doesn't need to be told to hold position every 30 seconds. Civilians can actually be non-compliant. There was actual thought put into objectives involving arresting suspects.
I think RoN could be a successor to SWAT 4. SWAT 4 vanilla certainly has a lot of flaws and I do think that RoN does some things better. Unfortunately VOID seems unwilling to capitalise on any of their more interesting ideas such as dynamic AI and multiple game modes that actually shift the game up.
