As rare as it is, You'll find them but not in big numbers.
The fact they quit immediately after dying and not hanging around until end of round speaks volumes, at least to me.
You're probably gonna be better off playing with a group of friends so that you get the enjoyment you want from the game, tactics included, as far as random players go.. you're reaching into a mighty big bag to find a very small pool of players that play the game without treating it like a call of duty sim.
In my eyes, playing co-op games with randoms is completely pointless, especially when teamwork is essential. That’s also why I find Insurgency: Sandstorm so frustrating. Teamwork is really important in that game as well, but 90% of the players I’ve encountered in public lobbies just rush straight to the checkpoints without any communication whatsoever. As someone who didn’t know the maps, that was incredibly frustrating. Eventually, I just gave up on the game.
I don't need teammates. People really need to stop confusing teamwork with tactics, they are not the same. You can have tactics while playing solo, its called MOUT. Peak corners, pie openings, stay close to cover, approach silently, etc.. all of these can be done solo.
I'm saying individual players are brain dead since they literally rush in guns blazing and have zero sense of self-preservation. They expect the current vanilla game to baby them with a ridiculous a health system that allows them to tank bullets like a sponge.
No. Just no.
This game does not respect your time AT ALL. Waiting til the end of the round to leave makes zero sense unless you feel like sticking with the team.
I don't stick around for end round pleasantries with people I haven't shared a single word with and don't enjoy the gameplay with.
If I wanted to spend hours watching random gameplay I would tune in to Twitch.
You do you, but I've had some good rounds with people just by staying put and having a few retries when we inevitably fail, And If I want a change of pace and want to rambo it, I gimp the AI by making them stupid with an AI mod, And then remove it when I want it to be more challenging as it was intended.
I don't mind failing, don't mind people with lower skill levels, nor do I mind no communication when in random lobbies. I go with host preferences as much as I can, which mixes up the experience.
Another reason to not frown at anyone leaving? The game crashes (though less since Dark Waters update). When I play with friends the game seem to crash every third to fifth session for various people.
It's worth making a dedicated group if you want to take it seriously, or just sticking with singleplayer. The bots aren't perfect, but as far as actual tactics go, they blow the average random out of the water.
