Unreal Engine 5 update

Hello,

I was wondering if you are updating the game to Unreal Engine 5 before the release of the 1.0 and that is why there was no new content for 9 months.

Also asking as a modder myself, I prefer to use UE5 instead of UE4, and if you are planning to update i think it should happen before the official release and thus allowing easier modder experience from the gecko and future helping tools like you said (and we are more than welcome).

they're too far into development, changing engines right now wouldn't be reasonable. check out their AMAs, they talked about this like a year ago.

It's seriously not that straightforward. You can't just check a box that says UE5 and uncheck UE4. I'm pretty sure they'd have to remake the entire game from the ground up.

This is what the devs have stated, along other things. You can't slap open a UE4 project with UE5 and expect that it's compatible, it won't, it'll likely break a lot. They have experimented on the side with UE5 and have said it is unstable for what they want to do.

Also, UE5 is unoptimized and if they ever do it, expect half of the playerbase to run the game at 10 fps

Where did he say that? Of course it takes work. Why would you assume he thought otherwise? UE5.3 is without question buggy though.

In the title that reads "Unreal Engine 5 Update". And the question that starts, "I was wondering if you are updating the game to Unreal Engine 5". It's almost as if the OP is wondering if they are updating the game to UE5, which in practice wouldn't make sense considering how far along the game is currently. Read before you reply.

i think squad deserves upgrade to unreal engine 5, because squad graphics looks like ps3.. ready or not 100 times better than squad
