Yeah, my playtime is 99% solo. It's fun, with flaws.
There's also a ton of modding potential on Nexus that can help facilitate better single player experiences. I'd even argue that this game truly shines because of mods and the different experiences you can create for multiplayer and singleplayer.
There are obvious ones where you'll need 1-2 other players tho.
The first half of the game is pretty decent with bots, without any major flaws, but the second - is heavily constructed for co-op gameplay with a lack of polish for bots. They are frequently stuck, freeze at "move to" command, extremely slow to react on side / rearguard fire, very bad at throwing 'nades and missing suspects which are gonna to shoot them in the back.
So, if you care about just having fun in quick play, sure, the game will provide you some, but if you need to achieve good scores (some will say this is not what about the game), you find yourself frustrated because of bots more often than desirable.
Only today at Elephant mission, I placed a blue squad guard in a narrow, one way stair passage and ordered both squad members to look in that direction. Minute later one dude just runned pass them and gunned them both down, with full health and heavy full ceramic armor. Bots are decent hit scanners, sometimes slowpokes, such inconsistency never allows to rely on them even with simplest tasks.
But I will repeat myself self, if you going to just enjoy some casual gameplay - sure, it could be possible and fun.
Haven't tried the DLCs yet.
Dark Waters is great, DLC 1 isn't bad either.
Of course you can do this Solo, there are achievements that you can only get single player in commander mode, so it must be possible.
I got "The Hermit
Complete Ready or Not in Ironman mode without losing a single officer" twice now. I got it before the update (without any mods and the enemy being Jonh Wick Style), but after the update I lost everything, so I was eager to get that gold watch again.
Now when I did that run, I did all missions Non Lethal, I completed all missions with the beanbag shotgun.
And yeah for my second run to get my golden watch back, I did use 1 mod, the mod that gives you more health, that was the only one.
