What could be one of the "best" assault rifles in the game?

Something that balances range and damage? i feel like some ars feel so weak and others have a lot of recoil

Rifles with the same caliber have same range/damage, if you want lowest recoil use G36C, F90, MCX, ARN-18, G51 or G3A3 with vertical/th grip and sfmb brake

To put it mildly, some of it is just preference, some of it "does matter," but at the end of the day, use the right tool for the job. Not all rifles are great in every scenario. .300 blackout for example isn't the best against heavily armored suspects.

Just find a rifle you like, and get good with it. Best advice I can give. I tend to switch it up a lot, and especially after looking at the internal data on the blueprints while modding, I can tell you, many of the rifles of the same caliber are fairly similar. There's nuance there, but it's not a whole hell of a lot.

Educate yourself about ballistics, armored vs unarmored, the individual guns, etc., and the question will answer itself most of the time. A lot of real world stuff translates somewhat into the game guns and ballistics.
