every public lobby is cod
everyone sprinting through every map trying to kill every single npc. what's the point? go play cod. why are people doing this? you're not supposed to kill the civilians!

That is exactly my first impression from the online play, I come from Six Days In Fallujah, you can't do this in that game, the game will heavily punish you for separating from your team but it seems in this one it is just the norm to go rambo solo. There is ZERO teamwork, no one even talks and yet every level gets completed.

most people already know the layout of most of the maps, know what purps are armed with, and every other piece of intel. So most of these cod lobbies are prolly old heads from early access like me who been playing the game forever.

the only way to implement team-play is to host your own lobby

Don't play in public lobbies if are looking for serious gameplay. It's pretty rare find any there. There are several groups you can find in the RON discord "unit promo" channel that are far more organized and are pretty good places to play in if you want teamwork and tactics.

You have alternatives to random public lobbies -

Host your own lobby and set your own rules. If people don't follow your rules, kick them. Problem solved.

Alternatively, post here on Steam LFG and link up with like-minded folks. Go to the official discord or... Steam groups or whatnot.

Or, turn this post into a friend hunt. You just have to put a slight amount of effort into it. Plenty of tacticool cats around here.

Pub players are trash, even one good friend that coordinates and takes it slow makes RoN play out smoother then a team of 5 idiots.

This is the ready or not that a lot of people wanted by constantly telling the developers to nerf the AI. I've said this a long time ago, but there was a reason why the Ai was as hard as it was before. It was so people actually needed to play slower and tactically and only like 0.1% of the player base would maybe succeed in rushing it, but they'd have to do that SOLO and not risk being a bad team player in a random lobby by rushing and dying.

if you go far back to one of my posts in early access, I even said that if the devs nerf the Ai, then this game will just be like any other generic FPS shooter out there where it will be easy to run and gun and not need to play tactically. Now that is exactly what it's become.

if you want to roleplay as a real SWAT officer using CQB, then it's best to find a team on discord that wants to play like that.

It has been like that from EA.
But also there is an influx of new players which is understandable.

What I hate the most is that these players open the doors wide open or kick doors without clearing the current one leading to confusion, friendly crossfire or exposing vulnerable teammates to suspects.

They are trying to save the president.

PS: of course, kill civs, friendly fire, excessive force are just wrong. Especially when you almost complete a level perfectly.

Coming from an early alpha player, the COD guys were always there.
But they quit pretty early because they would die or trip traps.
After a few games in a lobby, they weeded out and the lobby would be full of players working as a team.
The AI is so dumb now, their accuracy so bad, the player can take so many hits, it does not make sense to play tactical anymore.
There is 0 need. Just run thru the level, you really can not die, unless you try.
Went from a great game, to Void listening to the wrong crowd, now just another game on the back shelf.

100% correct

RON stopped being a 'tactical' shooter on Feb 2024. That month's patch nerfed AI and gave the players a ridiculous amount of health stats. Players can now tank over a dozen shots before dying, which completely ruined online play. Before 2024, online players would die immediately if they rushed in (1-4 hits max).

Until the devs reduce the time to kill for players (which they won't), the game is no longer a challenge. And COD style online games are what will dominate the online mode. Only hope is that maybe the devs come out with a 'hardcore' mode or something that reduces nerfs player health.

The words of a true og from the earlier EA days. You're absolutely right man.

The game was punishing before, it ain't now. RON was a 'hardcore' level game, but by popular demand it was moved to easy/normal mode. Which unfortunately for us, really changes the soul of a game in my view.
Corn Pop Dec 25, 2024 @ 9:14pm
why havent they added the old AI-mode as a "veteran" etc difficulty? why dumb down the entire game
Gonzo850 Dec 25, 2024 @ 11:05pm
Too many CoD fans complained about the AI when the game launched. Even though there were mods available for them. Now coop matches with randoms are boring.
