S ranks
Kinda wish it was more possible to get a s rank with guns that aren't the bean bag launcher.

Kinda wish it was based more on how accurate you are with guns, and how many times you or your teammates get hit, and maybe a few other things. The current system just forces you to play a certain way and I dont think thats good design.

I wouldn’t be too chuffed about it. Unless you’re chasing an achievement, ranks don’t mean much. After my friends and I completed all the achievements we wanted, we stopped caring about rank, especially when we play together. We still play in the spirit of the game, trying to save life, but we rarely deploy with non-lethal primaries and keep it more or less realistic.

It's downright ridiculous going into an active-shooters situation with known casualties and possible hostages with a team holding... beanbag shotguns... and empty secondaries (so as not to accidentally shoot and hurt someone lmao).

The whole "S" Rank system needs to change and be based on more realistic things like:
- Amount of ammo wasted.
- Player/team damage taken (this is sketchy because the AI tends to get hit by itself which is mostly out of the player's control, causing frustration).
- Saving all hostages.

Basically the restriction to kill should be eliminated for "S" Rank - at least to a point. Many times you are forced to kill in order to save a civvie (e.g., when they are held at gun-point) or sometimes you are under heavy direct fire and need to fight back. You shouldn't be penalized for it.

At this point I think having the ability to kill 1-2 suspects without losing your chance for an "S" Rank is the best option (e.g., if it's 10 suspects, having a 20% window to kill - you still need to be careful but won't be penalized for saving a civvie held at gun-point). This will allow you to go into the mission with your preferred load-out and not look like a team of clowns with x5 Pepperguns and empty Glocks.

Yeah the last one sounds way better than we have right now, I thought about maybe having a system where if the suspect shoots first, and you shoot back in self-defense, then it shouldnt affect points either, but maybe thats a bit too easy, so your suggestion would be better.

The non lethal options shouldn't be a primary.

A lot of good points but I don't think the suggestion for a solution at the end is perfect yet. I am imagining scenarios in my head where me and my friend have to count how many suspects we shot in a mission to not lose the S rank or where we have to calculate the 20% of a missions suspect number before starting to know the maximum amount of kills we can make

Actually, the game is forcing you to use difficult weapons in order to get shiny and cool accessories.

Right now killing even just one suspect blocks you from achieving an "S" Rank even if you've done everything else perfectly.

Knowing that you have the window to kill up to a point doesn't mean you will have to count kills on a notepad, it means that you will do everything in your power to minimize deaths while also bringing in your favorite (and realistic) load-out. If you kill every suspect, an "A" Rank is perfectly fine and you can re-try the mission.

However, sometimes avoiding killing is impossible (suspect is about to pop a hostage) and you shouldn't be penalized for it. I believe having some breathing space for situations like this in order to get the "S" Rank is much needed. Details can be tweaked by the devs, this is just a rough suggestion (e.g., the amount of "kills" allowed based on the total number of suspects present).

If you care about the score but still want to have fun, use No Mercy mod:

I mean S rank is... Perfect

having no one die means everything has gone right

So S rank
