Patrol uniform option?
My proposal is to have a patrolman's uniform as an option, with an outer carrier vest, helmet, and of course the option of assault weapons. Why? Because not every situation has time to wait for a fully decked out SWAT team. There are several patrolmen on SWAT who are called to rapid response situations in their street uniform. It happens more often than you think. Now I personally wouldn't suggest that uniform for a hostage situation, because those situations typically progress slowly and there's time for a full team to be deployed. My suggestion would be for rapid, active shooter situations, where the first on scene would grab what they have and enter into the building.

Doesnt make sense to. If swat is entering then 3 things have happened. 1. The situation has deteriorated, 2. Negotiations have failed or 3. Its an organised raid. Option 3 applies to few missions. The only time first responders would make sense would be on the active shooter layout. All other missions make sense to have swat.

Don't forget that almost every map on here has the ability to be chosen as active shooter scenario. If realism is a defense against the idea, then what's with the non-police weapons as an option? It's just a game and another character option to choose from. If it was to change the gameplay in any way, then I would see your point.

There's a cop hat just outside the shoothouse
You apparently can get a police cap as a wearable, I believe it's tied to the shoot house. But that may have just been an asset mod.

Oh wow that's interesting, didn't even know that!

Still makes no sense. RON is a SWAT Game, it would make no sense to play as a police officer that is not a member of SWAT.

Would be cool if there was like a reconnaissance phase where you explore the building/area as a regular cop, only armed with a glock and 2 mags

I never said play as a non-member of SWAT. I've literally had street cops in my own city who are on SWAT, show up at active shooter situations, while wearing their helmet street patrol uniform and outer vest. It's not uncommon for that to happen in any city. There's not always time to head to the station and put on a full entire SWAT uniform. If you think I'm talking about a dress uniform like a police cap, tie and such, I'm not talking about that.

Well, I wouldn't say a regular police officer. It would still be a SWAT officer; I'm just saying an option for a short sleeved uniform shirt with the vest, helmet, and rifle would be neat. Hell, I'd be cool even if it was made as a mod.

I think it'd be fun to have street cops as a 'demilitarized' gamemode where you're on location and ♥♥♥♥ goes down armed with nothing but a taser, glock and maybe a shotgun sitting in the back of their car.

Another fun idea is to do it as a randomized loadout but still lower end, standard issue equipment versus the good more specialized stuff they give SWAT.

Hey that's not a bad idea

I'm not sure those are considered regular police officers either case, at most these guys would probably be the HRT guys, who do exist in PayDay 2 but were taken out from the loud gameplay for one reason or another but that doesn't mean they aren't there.
They are both police officers and SWAT officers; most of the time if they are seen wearing that it's because they responded to a SWAT call while they were on patrol.

That's like getting a chiropractor to perform life saving surgery...or heck, anything short of minor back pains

Yeaaaahhh... that's a terrible comparison to a video game.

Not really it isn't, the principle is still the same. The reason SWAT would even be called is because a situation is critical enough that it warrants heavily armed officers, so getting a regular beat cop uniform option would make it look incredibly out of place. Same thing with a chiropractor. You don't send in those guys to deal with someone with a subdural hematoma(or any *actual* medical problem for that matter), you send a trauma surgeon to deal with something that major
