Even the same issues with AI teammates ignoring orders if you move to fast.
On the same level?.... You must be insane.
I didn't grew up with SWAT and/or R6, but i spend around ~15 hours with SWAT4 SEF mod just a month ago.
It's not much, but I hoped for some QoL improvements in RoN. There are not much of these, but I don't see much staff missing.
Sure, i say you should play Rainbow 6 Rogue spear and see it for yourself. The story is a classical one, the AI (give it 25 years ago) is superb, the mechanics of the game are well thought out, the planning -> is an absolute masterclass. You do not want to play for yourself? Plan it out to the smallest detail and timing. If you want to play it yourself, the AI
(again, 25 years ago) will not block you, they actually move away really fast.
One can say, i am looking on Rogue Spear trough Rosa Sunglasses of being a kid. I tell you, give Rogue Spear the new looks of current game engines - it will break them all.
however, both enemy and friendly AI still need some serious tweaking, late-game maps are straight up unfair at times (not the bomb hotel mission level, but you WILL get mad), optimization is tragic at this moment
the tl;dr is wait 3-6 months then buy
Well, the question was about SWAT4, not R6, so that what I was comparing too.
SWAT4 didn't have pre-planning stage and some of quirks of friendly and enemy AI are here 1:1 in RoN.
I would actually love RoN to have more extended tactical planning or ability to have at least an order queue during the mission, the same I'm missing it in SWAT4.
PS. thanks, I'll try to find time for R6 soon.
I will say this much: there isn't a single modern FPS that comes as close to matching SWAT 4's magic as Ready or Not, and this game won't have a true competitor for many years to come.
