BRN-180 if you feel like something a little more powerful but you don't want the SA-58 anti-aircraft rifle.
SA-58 if you're confident you'll hit your target with the first round and always give the AI officers the SA-58 as don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about recoil.
UMP-45 is the only SMG worth taking and even then, the aforementioned G36C/F90 are better.
If you're really determined to use a 9mm SMG use the UMP-9. If you really want to take a PDW take the MP7.
All shotguns are good. I prefer pump actions as it prevents you from 'over-firing'. Always use buckshot. If suspect has armor aim for the the groin/limbs.
Less lethal is an unfun play style and only do it if you're achievement hunting.
For sidearm, either use the 9mm pistols (Glock 19, 92FS, M11A1), USP-45 or Five Seven. 1911s are for boomers and .357 Magnum is really slow, doesn't retain magazines, and will put you in a terrible position if you shoot someone in the arms rather than the chest.
It's always best to assume suspects have armor so bring AP ammo unless you know they won't have any armor.
Always give your officers silencers. It makes it easier to distinguish their fire from suspects. Also be sure to give blue and red different color tops/plate carriers so you can tell the difference between the two teams at a glance.
Always use flash light and red dot sight. Only level I'd consider using a scope is the final one. Light does 90% what a laser does and is also useful for illuminating rooms.
Light Plate carrier is the best as it affords you a good mix of protection and equipment. Always use ceramic plates.
Gas Mask for every level. Tear gas is the only 'silent' grenade, is the safest if your throw goes wrong, and works on all suspects (even ones wearing gas masks. Don't expect VOID to fix that soon either).
Door wedges are your best friend. Use them often. Shield and Mirror Gun are also insanely useful.
Expect suspect AI to be aggressive. VOID seems to think the game can only be fun if every suspect behaves like a suicidal martyr for their cause.
EDIT:
I carry 3 primary magazines and 2 secondary magazines. Rest is a mix of grenades and door wedges. If using a shotgun, bump both primary and secondary up by 1 magazine.
Wow! That is quite a lot of information. I need time to digest all of that, but I will definitely give it a try by testing each of the weapons and modifications you mentioned at least at the shooting range!
Oh? Does slow walk actually matter that much? It felt so weird that I wanted actually to disable it - I mean walking slowly all the time I feel more vulnerable whenever I have to cover a longer range. Especially at the first level - the Gas Station - I got attacked almost instantly after the spawn that I felt you needed to run quickly to cover that slow walk is actually useless. But I guess I was mistaken?
Thank you all for taking your time with the tips! Even if I cannot reply to each and everyone you have my thanks and I welcome any tips you have (more) for me.
If you're already in a situation where you're in danger, it won't do you any good. But if your patrolling through somewhere, a good example is the Apartment building with the, agents. Slow walking will lessen the amount your heavy feet make noise. You can test this. If you walk or run normally through a mission, the enemies will have their voice lines, asking 'who's there' or similar. If you slow walk, every mission does take 4 business days longer but you will be snuck up on, less, usually. The AI is very iffy so there's always a 40% chance you'll just be deemed a date with the reaper. For a larger, more open map, I'd say finding cover is your best option however, like the docks, normal pace outside, if you find a place you think enemies will be or an interior that is tight, slow walk.
Alright! Thanks again for the tip and the additional detailed explaination! That is very understandable. I knew sounds matter, but I have not realised yet that slow walk can matter THAT much!
By chance, do you have a tip in regards of the character shouts for me? Sometimes, I find myself unsure and accidently pressing F instead of doing an action my character shouts something to nobody. Is there a way to have more control over that, like making it only shout when actually seeing someone?
To my limited knowledge, you cannot change it so that shouting does not happen unless someone is there. I also doubt it would as it would require the game being aware of when you see someone and etc etc, they only just gave out a fix for that with the enemy AI recently (though it's for shooting your face, not shouting at you). Uhm, shouting at nobody IS helpful in few situations however, notably when there's a pesky civ or enemy left on a map that you've missed, yell and they will yell back. But to fix your issue, I'd say maybe change the shout button if you're accidentally pressing it. Sorry I can't be much more help in that regard.
Thank you nonetheless! I will check the options and see if I can adjust things while learning the ropes.
Feel free to reach out if you need any more help! I hope you have fun :) <3
About the armour: I feel the differences, significantly. But would steel plate not be the best choice unless you know you do not get hit that often? I understood it the way, that steel is weaker than ceramic, but ceramic breaks. And once it is broken you have no armour for the rest of the game? Or how exactly does it work?
It takes so long for ceramic to break that it doesn't really matter in my experience. Steel is fine but I don't like the idea of spall having a chance to injure me our a teammate. The difference is about 1 round which IMO is not significant when it comes to fully automatic gunfire coming your way.
Also, when ceramic breaks, you still have 40% armor. That's 30% less than steel, but it's still something.
Whatever you do, just don't use kevlar. Don't know why they even included it in the game tbh.
To quickly add onto/answer this. The AI in this game has been a heavy argument since it released. The AI is not implemented well and it's taken them a LOT of fixes and time to fix them in the ways that they have (They used to be able to aimbot your head cross the whole map in the early beta). It's something where, sometimes the AI is difficult in a fun way, and others where it's just frustrating. Make sure you clear the room and give the suspect a few seconds before handcuffing them, or have ur team mates watching you while you do.
