A sniper position from far supporting maybe?
Respectfully speaking, the game is amazing. And somehow when playing, I had this interesting thought.

Well, seeing lots of guns adding into the game and actually putting efforts in the operations will definitely be amazing to see. Personally I'm a sniper fan, bought Sniper elite and those kind of genre games.

When me and my frds are having fun, I kinda have a instant thought that maybe, just maybe but I do hope that there is a positon where there is a far position, maybe a map enlargement for more spaces that can actually make SNIPER a positon to help team. But maybe in those large maps and open map, or else it just not gonna work,

It's a little thought, what do you think?

There were discussions of a sniper system like in SWAT 4, it would be an AI that the host could control. But ultimately maps were too tight for them, and there were certain issues like ROE that even SWAT 4 didn't address. RoNs focus (and I think it should be) is on CQB action, rather than wide open maps. It's why I'm not a fan of certain SDIF maps/settings.
I think we're beyond adding something like that now. It's more like something you would see in RON 2 should they ever make one.

So you're telling me areas such as the depot in 'Greased Palms' or the carpark in 'Buy Cheap, Buy Twice' would be unviewable by snipers? Or that there wouldn't be a deployment of counter-snipers for the Penthouse? Or that there wouldn't be snipers watching the balcony of 'Sins of the Father'?

The 'ROE' issue is a non-issue too. Killing suspects reduces your potential score, and considering RoN also features arrest objectives and a Stress systems where suspects start acting different when Stressed, snipers would probably be a lot riskier than they are in SWAT 4.

Good points. I'll bet you there's a really neat lore reason that they can't program snipers, too.
