Best way to play

We just bought the game with friends - is there a best way to play the missions? Order from top to bottom?

Also are there somewhere visible scores for completed missions? Haven't found them.

Going top to bottom is probably best, but you can also look online for a story guide if you like. Top to bottom however is generally recommended for new players because it goes from easiest to hardest. Story wise they're disconnected enough that you get the idea of what the map is saying without having to know what's going on in the prior map(s).

And no, the only way to know atm would be replaying and completing/failing to see your best score.
