You can download a mod called 'In-Game Menu' that gives you a server browser. Mods do not block cosmetics or achievements. Absolutely no excuse on the developer's part. Same goes for them allowing people to create lobbies where they AFK and spam garbage.

A server based option is also needed. Even dying games like Insurgency still have many servers up, because people will just buy hosting for a year. P2P means the game will die.

Multiplayer and mods is a whole issue in itself. I would love a function to download if I so choose, the mods I need for the server. Instead I just get an error message stating we need to have the same mods.
