So, there's no way to save scum campaign?
I really hate having to start over from scratch constantly.

Even if you don't enable ironman, your squad literally quits after 2 failures.

Any way to make this game actually fun?

You just have to hit alt+f4 right when you fail the mission and then load the game back up. Not the most convenient way but it works. There is no loss of progress and no penalty for doing so.

Don't worry about your squad quitting. You can re-hire officers whenever you want. Perks honestly don't seem to matter all that much anyway.

Yeah you just hire more pike fodder and send them in to die in glory as they kill the enemy

There is literally no penalty for losing officers or failing missions. The only penalty for failing a mission is your valuable time (as they don't let you restart or skip through fail screen.)

Yes, commander mode is not fun, and was clearly never tested.

you can balance their stress by using non lethal weapons from time to time.
your officers will feel great again after just a single non lethal run.
you could go lethal on the big / hard maps and non lethal on the small and easy ones for example.

Even better, you can just replay an earlier level with LTL and restore everyone's mental health.

Don't use lethal for pretty much the first half of the campaign. Switch only when you need to, as in when suspects are heavily armoured and can take the punishment. Officers only get stressed if they're killing or being killed.

sure, but that kills the flow of the campaign. i dont think it'll make the game more fun for the OP

Yeah I wish it was more like Rouge Spear where you got the map and could do proper Pre operations set up and plan everything out.

You can play the game in practice mode. It is the same but without officer selection. No Perks though.

You can click Singleplayer in the menue and go into practice mode, that allows you to restart the mission without going back to base. It works for achievements, too.

Do yourself a favour and just play single player. I've only done single player to progress and unlock new missions. I had no idea campaign/commander mode was even a thing until I saw people complaining about it here in the Steam discussion.

Should also note there's none of the BS from the campaign. Like having to deal with team morale

Just play practice. You can unlock maps there.
