Thats like saying go play counter strike with bots if you dont like toxic teammates
I'm sure this new game play system would be worthwhile if the AI weren't problematic..
SWAT4 was a police/SWAT sim and it didn't have the unnecessary feature of having an X-COM/Aliens: Dark Descent squad management mechanic. Room temperature quotient...
That ♥♥♥♥ is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard and can change a SWAT even on the spot and get a panick attack and compromise the team, it happened IRL before, and not only with SWATs, it happened with all special operation groups, there's a point in any human that the brain can't handle it and is just enough.
I dont get the need for having specific named characters for team members, Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield used to be one of my favorite games to play as a kid and you had a massive roaster of operatives to manage (something like 30+), each having different stats and proficiencies who could get killed and lost completely for the remainder of the campaign. Not having named characters is the more immersive approach and can give additional layers of strategic depth to conpleting the campaign IF implemented correctly.
Unfortunately the way roaster management works right now doesn't really add much to the experience, there should be a finite amount of officers at your disposal and they should have multiple statistics that would vary between them. Losing them all means losing the campaign and a restart. The stress feature would make more sense to have with this setup as well.
I was stuck doing Greased Palms on 1.0 and I didn't even care about my officers anymore since more often than not they get domed the second a suspect seen a pixel of their boot.
Commander mode falls flat for me due to the lack of needing to actually care for the people you're leading, it drastically threw away the immersion in conjunction with other factors. The station itself just became a meat grinder...
Who plays this with vanilla AI and why if they can instead enjoy the game?
Glad to know it doesnt affect officer performance, will probably start treating my team like they're disposable to engage as little possible with this mechanic, thanks.
