Give us the basic settings!
Where are the brightness and gamma settings in this game? It desperately needs it, since it is by default way too dark on my perfectly set HDR monitor. I refuse to f-up my desktop driver settings for a single game that does not have these kind of settings.

Yeah, I have to use Nvidia Freestyle as the workaround currently to set the correct brightness

Doesnt make any sense that it is not in the game yet.

Your perfectly set HDR monitor should be able to make and save custom profiles.

Seems like they had to rush it out by the end of the year for financial reasons. We'll get the real 1.0 in Feb, prob.

To compensate for what? The lack of game options that been in almost every game after 2000?

You can just edit an INI file to change brightness levels for now, it doesn't make sense why this option has been left out, it can't have been for gameplay reasons, since they would have also locked the ability to do engine config tweaks and people need this setting to get balanced gamma levels on some monitors.

has HDR and complains about the game being to dark? dude, that is the selling point of a good HDR monitor, deep blacks vs vibrant colours, use the NVGS if you have issues seeing stuff

Windows Auto HDR isn't perfect, whilst it can be more reliable than native HDR implementations it's still fallible. You could modify HDR brightness in the Windows settings, but a gamma slider in-game would be better. This isn't even counting Linux.

Thanks for letting me know.

As Reuben said HDR is barely used to its full potential when there is no build in HDR-Support. Guess for yourself if there is HDR support if the game does not even have a brightness slider.
Yet as I claimed before I wont ruin my perfectly fine settings for one single game. I will just adjust the INI as Reuben suggested.

Mine too. Thank you for that brainfart.
The lack of a brightness setting was baffling in Early Access, especially since many of the maps were too dark for several months until VOID overhauled the lighting at one point.

My theory is that since the devs refuse to say a word about brightness settings, it's part of the difficulty balance and they just won't admit it. And that would be silly, because lighting is a core part of the difficulty for horror games and yet pretty much all of them let you adjust the brightness...

I could be totally wrong, but I've been playing games for decades and I've never seen one omit such a basic feature for so long, without the developers giving any indication as to when it might be added. It's suspicious and disappointing.

Sure, those settings wouldn't hurt, while I don't care about them personally, more options is usually how everybody wins looks like. Personally, what I really want, is the option to turn off post processing effects, or post processing altogether at least. At the very least tone it down some.
