Does anyone use non-lethal in their AI squad?
I tried giving one of my guys a peppergun since they were dropping most suspects without hestitation.
Afaik it was not effectively used once in the entire mission, only making that squad member a liability because of how agressive the AI is atm.

Has anyone had succes with this?
Maybe i missed it but it seems like the non-lethal wielding AI is not prioritised whatsoever, as soon as a suspect acts remotely hostile his buddies just drop him.

I was playing the server level and I equipped my AI with all less lethals and they dropped like flies.

As in they died or they surrendered?
Also which less lethal weapons did you use?

If you headshot with a pepper gun, the suspect die. I believe it's what the swats are doing when they clear a room.

BB shotgun is slow but they drop on the ground in 2 shots big max (depend if you land your shot or not, else, you need to shoot again).

Also, apparently, there is a command to "secure" instead of clearing. I don't know how to do that (Since i don't play the swats that much). Apparently, it force to AI to harm but not kill.

i did for fun but on the later missions its impossible as it takes 3/4 shots to get 1 enemy stop shooting at you, so your whole squad dies or they let an enemy suicide bomber run up to you because they cant kill them in time and they always target the player first

Yeah, non lethal is my main style so naturally it's what I did the first time playing the 1.0
And it doesn't work. The suspects never give up. They shoot on sight, and when the officer can't fight back the officer dies 99% of the time. The 1% left is for when the officer caps the suspect in the head, killing him. Less lethal is absolutely useless at the moment. Also, I've noticed the friendly AI doesn't like less lethal at all - when you give them less lethal they start changing to the lethal sidearm, lol.

As in my team all died it was the pepperball gun.

If your using it against unarmoured suspects, then it's perfectly doable if you are all wearing heavy armour.
Fang Dec 16, 2023 @ 11:12am
Yes, they use their less-lethal weapons the exact same way as lethal. Which is silly.

Ah okay thank you, i'll probably just not use it then.

I might try it on the streamer mission sometime but even his goons have backpacks on their torso, presumably with kevlar or makeshift armor.

Yeah i was kind of hoping with the new advanced AI they would adjust their behaviour when someone has less lethal in the stack but they seem to utilise it the exact same as a rifle.

Try setting one team up with a pepperball gun AND a beanbag shotgun. The pepperball gun isnt very incapacitating, but its quick, has good capacity, and isn't rendered useless by armor. With the beanbags, the AI will often double tap them and it is pretty effective. The pepperball gun basically slows and deters the enemies, and the beanbag actually makes them surrender.

It's actually more beneficial to outfit your squad with less lethal, or at least one team. As long as nobody on your team dies, being shot or injured doesn't increase their stress levels. Letting your team KILL the enemies does, though. Like... a LOT. Just go clearing maps and your officers stress will be in the red in no time, then you have to wait 3 missions for them to go to therapy. As long as you play carefully enough to where nobody on your team actually dies, you can basically avoid any stress.

On my one save, I've kept my team equipped with less lethal, while I have a rifle. I'll usually breach and flash a room and have the team go in with less lethal, and ill go an cuff the surrendered suspects with my taser out in case they stand up. I'm on the 6th or 7th mission with the same team from the start of the game and stress still green. It's kinda stupid and not very realistic, but so is the stress system. Enemies shooting you/your team doesn't really seem to increase stress, only you/your team shooting enemies does, which makes zero sense.

The suspect behavior relating to self preservation and surrendering, along with the current stress system definitely needs some tweaks and balancing.

Yup, I was sick of their ♥♥♥♥ so I equipped everyone in my squad with less lethal shotguns. It really helped with everyone's mental health, but now I have to attend at least one funeral a week.
